Congrats on your success! I've made the lifestyle change to low gi eating also and have so far lost 25 pounds. Could you pm me the link to your blog? Would love some more recipe ideas!
In response to your 6/18 post.. A full physical would typically be checking vitals such as blood pressure, your weight, body mass index, heart rate, etc. I am not sure how old you are, but I assuming in your 20's or 30's and at our age it's a pretty simple exam (but depending on your needs it can be as extensive as it needs to be) basically checking to make sure everything is okay based on your symptoms, pased history, etc. They usually will check your mouth, ears, nose and eyes.
They listen to your heart, lungs, and bowel sound with their stethoscope. If you are going to a family doctor, and have a gynecologist dr they will usually leave that part up to them. But some family doctors do a vaginal exam &/or breast exam.
You typically do a symptoms survey (usually things from the past 6 mos) and then talking about them. If you have concerns write them down and go through them with your doctor. Doctors don't always do a lipid profile, complete blood count, etc. So if you want those done you might want to explain why and they will probably order the labs for you with no question.
You may want to consider being referred to a endocrinologist or talking to your GYN more extensively about PCOS specifically. I don't think many PC Docs would be interested in monitoring PCOS, it's too specific. When there are people who specialize in certain areas, typically a doctor won't touch them, they will refer you out. Which is good, because you want someone who knows a lot about it, PCOS can be (well actually... is) complex!
Whole wheat pasta is not a problem. As for the brown sugar, the light brown sugar.. I believe just means it's a different 'type' of sugar, not neccesarily that it's light as in better for you. There really is no good brown sugar, so I try to limit my use to it. I typically use it on my oatmeal and in one Kielbasa dish that I make. But that's about it. I know I've heard of a brown sugar that is along the lines of slenda, etc. But I don't put any of that aspartame, sweet and low, etc. in my body. Too much research shows it could be causing cancer.
Good luck, if your anything like me you'll feel good knowing you went to the doctor and kinda know better where you stand with your health. I am not one to be afraid of the doctor, because if something is wrong.. I want to know NOW.
Best of luck to you!

Great post! Thank you for sharing. It is so inspiring. We started doing the lg diet and got off track a bit. There are some great new products now I want to try. Thanks again!
Wow - so inspirational Sweetstar! I just finished looking through your photo album and I was just about moved to tears! Can you send me a link to your blog? I'm "new" but not. My last log-in (according to the site) was 12/08 - right after I was diagnosed. Apathy isn't working for me anymore (like it ever did) and I'm seeking out ways to jump start some changes in my life. Thank you so much for sharing everything that's worked for you!
Thanks so much for sharing! I've been looking at doing a low gi diet, and it's really great to hear how someone else has had so much success doing it. I'm looking forward to trying the recipes from some of the websites that you posted!
