Heidi - One other alternative you might want to look into is www.surgeryloans.com . They finance elective surgeries...just a thought.

Ok, I just wanted to do an update. On the Obesity help website, A young lady contacted me and mentioned she was offered WLS by the new orleans la, LSU surgery clinic. This is like a charity hospital. She said because she lived with her parents and had no income that she was eligible for the surgery without cost. She gave me the information and I called the clinic, they told me I need a refferal from my doctor. I just seen a new medical doctor yesterday and asked him to run lab work and test my thyroid, insulin, etc. because it's been a while and I'm steadily gaining weight. So, I have another appointment to see him next wednesday to have a lump removed from my right shin area of my leg (in-grown hair lump). So I'm going to ask for a referral, I had mentioned that I was looking into the surgery already and he didn't say much about it other than he thinks the anidepressants are making me gain the weight (more than usual).
Originally, the doctor appointment was due to my feet. Since I've moved into our new place, my feet feel very awkward, like I'm falling inward and outward, very unstable footing. He said it's my arches falling and it is due to the weight, he's referring me to an orthodepic. So, that was very depressing for me. I just got a puppy to encourage me to walk more and now I feel so awkward walking and my feet are very sore where my arch used to be, I used to have very high arches.

So, I really need this surgery or just quit eating. I feel out of control. I have hope about this hospital because I think they'll work with me financially because I don't have insurance that will cover the surgery and I'm not well off but do have an income. We'll see, I'm excited, maybe this is god's will for me. :-)

Ok, getting back on track with pursuing surgery. I talked to someone on the obesity help website that said the charity hospital in new orleans la is now doing the wls. I lost my job in May so that's my only choice as of now. I seen a few people who had the surgery there under Dr. Glen Steeb (sp) and they seem to be doing well. So, Tomorrow, me and my mother are traveling to the hospital and I'm going to ask for the surgery and for information. It's 2 & 1/2 hours from where I live so it's a drive. I will feel better once I can get started in the process. I've been waiting for them to call after I requested a referral from my regular doctor but they never did. So, it's time for me to take the bull by the horns and get this done. It may be the best time to do so since I'm unemployed. Hopefully my unemployment check will get straightened out soon...but that's another story. Ok, thanks for listening/reading :-)

Went to the charity hospital in new orleans, the LSU University Hospital and waited to be seen from 10 am in the morning until 7 pm at night. It was a long day of waiting but I seen the doctor and asked to be referred t LSU Surgical Center/Clinic. He said he knew they have a Bariatric Clinic and that he would refer to them and I should here from them either on the phone or mail. He didn't know anything about them offering the Gastric Bypass Surgery or if I needed to pay or insurance. I told him that I knew someone that was pursuing the surgery and was referred by this hospital and she didn't have to pay, problem is that I haven't heard from her in a while.

So, I'm hoping for the best. I'm getting excited thinking that maybe one day I'll actually be able to have the surgery. I hope I won't be dissapointed.
