Ever since my perscription increased *again* I have been trying to find out all I can on myopia. Recently I read that there is a myopia/insulin resistance connection. I'm curious to know if alot of other people around here suffer with this (myopia) and if so how severe is it. Mine is pretty severe (Left eye -9, Right -9.5), it started when I was 6

*sigh* that WAS my weight loss.. right now I'm about 10lbs heavier.. I'm a college student trying to get back there.. trying!! really trying!
I also got myopia . Mine started when i was 2 years old. Mine is pretty bad they has to thin out my glasses my left eye is awful. Right is pretty bad as well.

I started wearing glasses in 3rd grade (around 8 years old). My eyesight is very poor as well, 20/650 in both eyes (I can see clearly about 4 inches from my face).

Forgot to put with my glasses on i can see 20/30 out of right eye and 20/50 out of left.

I work for an optometrist and I have never heard of a connection between myopia and insulin resistance. However, I have been wearing glasses since the third grade I know wear contact lenses. Mine is also severe -8.50 with some astigmatism correction.
P.S. There is a huge connection between diabetes and your prescription. If a diabetics sugar is not under control there eyesight can change from day to day. Ladies since we are at a much higher risk of developing diabetes we definatly need to get a comprehensive eye exam every year. Diabetes can damage the eyes very badly if not watched closely.
