I just heard about "Nonclassical Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia", and now I am confused as to which disease I have. It seems that most of the symptom match those of PCOS. I was officially diagnosed with PCOS about 4 years ago, and was put on birth control and Metformin. The first year, I dropped from 210lbs to 140lbs!! I assumed that this was because of the Metformin, and after the first year, regardless of my attempts to diet, the weight started coming back. I am now back up to 180lbs...and at 5'4", that doesnt look to pretty. Im beginning to think that Metformin is no longer working! Has anyone here been diagnosed with NCAH after being diagnosed with PCOS? Unfortunately...I dont know much about either disease, dispite my efforts to Google info. None of the doctors I have been to have really answered my questions. Any help would be appeciated. Anyone know of a good doc to see in GA? Possibly the Atl area?
I did not see it on TV, but my mother did, and she called me and came over with a little notepad, and read off a brief description of the show. It seems to her that I have NCAH rather than PCOS...anyone else think the same? I started my cycle when I was 9 years old...been shaving my upper lip since 11...I didnt really have severe facial acne, but on my chest and back! Now that I am 22, I am getting a nasty case of acne, and I seem to have a receeding hairline! I do have the darken skin folds, and elevated testosterone and insulin, and irregular cycles, but these are symptoms for both diseases. I need a good and informative doctor.
Nonclassical Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia. I remember that. it was on the episode called the bearded lady (Just super).
Great pcos has a sister... I wonder if NCAH is a mutation of pcos of some sort. i haven't seen that episode in a while so i forget how they explained it. i remember them mentioning pcos though.
Bamagirl, which met are you on? is it extended release? also, how many times a day are you taking it? you might just need a higher dosage.
