Default Naomi, Cazza, anyone else - GD question....

Hi girls

I had a midwife appointment on Friday. I had glucose in my urine... Midwife did a random finger prick test and the result was 5.5 which she was happy with. I'd eaten lunch followed by a creme egg an hour before and was sure it would be through the roof!

Anyway, my question is this if the random test was 5.5 does that bode well for my GTT in a couple of weeks? I've been worried about GD the whole way along and was encouraged by the 5.5 result...just wondering what your throughts are?

Paddy

I would have thought that 5.5 was quite low for just after eating, so i'm not sure. I was told that a random test had very little substance, your GTT will be more accurate but i'm not sure about glucose in your urine to be perfectly honest

I think it was meant to be under 8 after eating so I would say that sounds pretty promising that you dont have GD. But as cazza said its much more accurate with a gtt test or taking readings over a period of time so you can see trends.
