Just some background on me - I LOVE NPC - I used it to conceive my first child back in 2004 by doing a shutdown (I did this after I had a period that lasted over a month.)

Anyway - my question is this. I am planning on doing another shutdown, I'm just looking for thoughts on timing. I had my second m/c of the year over the 4th of July weekend (I was between 5-6 wks, m/c likely caused by low levels of progesterone, go figure.) SO...Do I need to wait until my next cycle begins to start my shutdown, or can I do it this "cycle"? I am one of those that normally has a period every single 31 days. Your thoughts are appreciated! Thanks!
Hi, could you tell me what a 'shutdown' is pls?

NPC shutdown - basically you take NPC for 21 days instead of 14, starting on Day 5 of your cycle. This suppresses ovulation and allows the ovaries to rest (and hopefully heal some). Shutdowns usually last 3 months. From my understanding, it can help get rid of cysts, thus helping hormonal balance. This is what I plan on doing it for.

Hope that makes sense!

I may try a shutdown some time soon. Think my Ovaries could do with some rest. How long does it take for AF to arrive after a shutdown?

Thanks ladies

put it on thin skinned areas such as ankles, inner thighs, collarbone area, and underside of forearms. alternate location each day that you put it on. also, most progesterone creams will tell you instructions on the back of the product about where to apply. hth

I too am using NPC this month to TTC. I started after I knew I ovulated. I'm now on 15DPO today and have been only using a tiny bit in the AM of a brand from vitacost. Anyway, it's the same as others.

My ? is, I'm never late, always 33 days, which was yesterday, however, this is my first month TTC with NPC and I don't want to discontinue if I'm preggo till 12 weeks or so. I got dollar store tests and 2 are negative. I know they aren't very reliable, but can anyone offer some advice? Should I use the NPC today or stay off it to see if AF comes? I think I'm pregnant, should I just go get another type of test?

Hi all.

I apologise if this question has already been answered somewhere, but I couldn't see it...

Is there anyone here using NPC to sustain a pregnancy? If so, what dose are you using? I am 14dpo and have all the signs of a pregnancy - but I did start spotting today I just want to make sure I am using the correct dose.

Thanks

On what days of a cycle do you use the cream? And how much/ where is it applied?

Yep, I get awful migraines. Menstrual headaches are due to progesterone dropping to low, so it makes sense to add some NPC for a menstrual headache. I've heard that PCOS can make your progesterone levels be low ALL the time. So it makes sense that I could be getting headaches regularly due to low progesterone. Whenever I feel one coming on, I rub on the cream (not necesarily on neck and temples...it works for me anywhere) and I almost always get at least SOME relief. TRY IT!

Hi Ladies,
I have a question.
I'm on day 4 of my third round of NPC. No AF the first two times but at the end of the 2nd round I had real deep cramping & headache. I spotted briefly and expected AF any day- it didn't arrive so after 7 days I started with the third round.
I am using 1 pump/20 mg once daily and I can feel my body trying to hard to bring on AF and i'm wondering if i should up the dose to twice daily???
If so, can i do this starting now that i'm on day 4 of this round or should i wait until next round?

flash - keep taking the NPC, until you get a positive, or bloodwork done... because if you are, and you stop, you can cause yourself to miscarraige. dollar tree one's are good I hear.... i don't know what the best test is though.

luckybrand - yes, you can take it to sustain a pregnancy, here's the link to answer all your questions. http://www.soulcysters.net/progester...ormation-82612

hermi - interesting, i will have to try that.

lookup - CD14, or immediately if it's been forever since you had AF... 2 times a day for 14 days, 1/8 to 1/4 tsp full.

Maxine - I would up it...to see if it does it. It won't hurt you any to up it. I had the same question when I started it, it took a couple doses, then I spotted for 19days, stopped 2 weeks later AF arrived, then I continued to spot for 18 days, and I think AF arrived again w out NPC. Don't give up, and I think AF will arrive whether you up it or not, but if you up it, she'll come faster for you....I think.

Thank you so much for your reply. I am going to up it to twice daily.
Getting a bit nervious though because I leave for a Cruise on Nov 30th and have a feeling AF will arrive while on vacation. In any event, as inconvenient as it will be, i'll still be thankful if she arrives.
I've been on the IR diet but had a 'cheat' meal on saturday night when we were out for dinner and also did not exercise that day- now as of this morning i'm up 4lbs!
Seems like a lot to be up for falling off the wagon for one meal and one missed exercise, so i'm hoping the weight gain is partially due to AF being on her way... who knows.

Anyway, thanks also for sharing about your spotting for that long. If that's what happens to me I would have panicked if not for your post.

hopefully you will be almost over it, or over it by then.... have fun. always wondered what one would be like. and the weight gain could be, that is one thing w PCOS, i remember gaining 15 lbs in water, have AF... drop every single pound, literally looking PG before starting... that was when i was a thin cyster... my goal is to be one again. good for you w GI diet, and exercise. as long as you bounce back to the regimen or routine, them 4 lbs will drop right off, it's just keeping it going... and sticking to it... I go 3 wks have a bried interruption, and somehow fall off the wagon, takes months to get back on... I really want to be on that wagon.... you know how it goes. Have fun, don't worry, it will all work out.

Hi guys...I have a question. Unlike most of you, I have AF that seems to never end. My GYN gave me Provera and Clomid, as I am TTC, and the Provera stopped the bleeding while on it, then I had a normal period! Will progesterone cream have the same effect. If I start using it while I am bleeding, will it stop AF until I stop using the cream and will I have withdrawal bleeding like with Provera?

TIA for any help!
