Ms WF: I just posted a similar question on another thread...as I started NPC this month and I seem to be having some side effects.....tired..ok more like EXHAUSTED...dizzy....foggy..kinda like I am drunk and need to be put to bed...but with NOTHING to drink...so I am not sure if it is the NPC, life...or maybe cause I am doing a cleanse right now...I am going to switch when I take the NPC (i have been doing a pump in the am and pm...and will just stick to pm)...and also up the amount of food I am eating...

But like I said...not sure what is causing these reactions....

I was also extremely tired during the first cycle that I used NPC. I read somewhere that this is caused by the body not being used to the effects of progesterone and this should improve within one cycle. I stuck with it and sure enough, I was not as tired during my second cycle of NPC.

I'm on my second week of NPC - haven't had a period in six months and am giving this a try. I have had a great deal of trouble sleeping for almost a year now. During these last two weeks of using the NPC, I have been sleeping SO well at night! It's interesting that it makes some exhausted. I'm just thankful to finally get a good night's sleep for the first time in a long time! I would agree that either being exhausted (or just sleeping really well for the first time in a long time) must be a side effect if so many people experience it.

Hi Ladies

I also felt tired and drunk too lol on my 1st cycle of NPC. On my second though It was differanct I felt very relaxed and nothing seemed to stress me out, I did only use it for 7 days on that cycle.

I am tring another cycle without this time. I am hoping that they are returning to some sort of normality.

Love to all

I'm just curious.... if I didn't actually ovulate when could I expect af after stopping npc?? According to FF I did ovulate but for some reason I'm second guessing it. This is my second cycle using npc. TIA.

I haven't ovulated in a very, very long time - and it's been more than 6 months since my last period. I started NPC a couple weeks back (obviously at a random time of my nearly non-existent cycle). I bought NPC that came in a container that dispenses a premeasured amount per pump - 200 mg (USP) and I used it once in the morning and once at night for 14 days then discontinued. I've been off for two days and holy cow if it didn't work! First day off, spotting. Today is day two since coming off it and presto - an honest-to-goodness period. It's a miracle! I'll stay off for 14 days (or maybe until I ovulate - we'll see if that happens) and then go back to doing the 200mg dose 2x day for 14 days and then dicontinue to try to have a "normal" 28 day cycle. I am the world's biggest skeptic and I still can't believe this actually worked so far.

I'm not sure I fully understood your question mommy1 - maybe my answer helped, but if not hopefully someone else can answer? If you think after you have ovulated, then use it for 2 weeks then discontinue and period should start within a few days, I believe. If your period doesn't start in one week, as I understand it, and you are not trying to conceive, I think you're supposed to re-start the NPC for another 14 days and then come off it again. Perhaps someone can correct me if I am wrong. Oh yeah, and if you are TTC, i know you're supposed to remember not to discontinue if you get pregnant because it can cause you to miscarry if your progesterone level drops (such as when you discontinue the cream)

Thank you pipercub. I am ttc and am using npc as progesterone support during my 2ww. I will stop if I get a bfn but continue if a bfp (my RE knows I'm using progesterone as he prescribed the suppositories but I'm finding the cream better, less emotional side effects for me). It worked like a charm last cycle! I got af on my own with a nice 13 day luteal phase, although a bfp would have been better I will admit. It's just for this cycle I'm not that confident that I ovulated. I had all the signs, cm, cp and even bloating and some discomfort, but my temps aren't as high post-ov as they were last two cycles so am just causing myself undo doubt I'm sure. So, you did answer my question, that I should get af regardless if I ov'd or not when I stop npc (after testing first).

Ok so I have a quick question. I started the NPC on about day 16 and here it is day 23 and my period has started. So I am happy that I got it on my own..but confused that it is here so early?! So I stop the NPC and have an early cycle or do I up my dosage till day 28? Any words of wisdom out there?!

Hi Raspberrydelight

I would foloow the instructon that came with the cream. I would stop using the NPC and begin using it again during the middle of your cucle, if you ate TTC that is.

I hope this help's

Hi Amanda...I just responded to you on another thread and asked about AF.

I used Emerita NPC from Whole Foods, but I know that other women have found it online. I'm sure that you can get it elsewhere too. I started at CD50+ or so but that's because I kept thinking that AF would come on her own. No such luck!

Do you know if you O'd? Obviously, that would tell you if you should expect AF anytime soon.

I know that you're thinking about taking soy to help O, and since I am doing the same thing, I'll give you my take on this. Some people take soy late in their cycle if they haven't O'd to make it happend (and ultimately bring on AF or BFP). Others wait for AF (or if you're like me, use NPC or Provera first). So, technically, you wouldn't have to use NPC before using soy. I don't know if one way is better than the other, though. Maybe someone else can speak to this.

I have a question about NPC. I am *NOT* ttc. I keep noticing that when people suggest when to take NPC, they say "take it on these days, if you are ttc." Well, what if you are NOT ttc, but just want to regulate your cycles?

Also, some of you say that NPC can prevent ovulation--can I use this as a sort of natural birth control? I think I do ovulate naturally (well, I got pregnant when I wasnt trying to once, so I guess I do at least sometimes), so if NPC can suppress that as a natural birth control that would be fab--does anyone know how I would use it for that?

Thanks for your help/advice

Another question: do I have to buy the expensive stuff at the health food store or can I use some from the drug store or wal-mart? How strong does the concentration of progesterone need to be?

More questions:

Why didn't NPC raise my bbt? I don't understand. Usually progesterone (pill form) gives me high temps but now I used the cream and nothing.
