Question Natural Remedies for Cysts

Does anyone have any advice on natural remedies for cysts...? My Dr. wants me to take Yasmin to control the cysts( I had a 6lb cyst 9 years ago and a 2lb cyst 1 month ago which both had to be removed) but I am very concerned about taking BC's again....trying to figure which one works best with my body and putting chemicals into my body also are not very fun to me! So, I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on what might work naturally..Thanks

Cool

Hello

Chickweed tincture is slow acting but will dissolve cysts used with castor oil packs. This is how I control my cysts and it seems to work. Hope this helps.

Hello PersianGirl.

How I do Castor Oil packs is to take a washcloth and soak it in warm castor oil. Put this over the area of the cyst. Take saran wrap and place over the washcloth. Then put a moist hot towel over this. I suppose you could use a heating pad. Do this about 2-3 times a day. Use chickweed according to instruction on the tincture. I bought chickweed from the GNC store in capsule form. I had heard the tincture works best but after about a month taking the capsule I had a cyst on my kidney that was dissolving!! I was amazed!!

Hope this helps!!

Do you think it's the warm Castrol Oil that's working or the Chickweed?? I'm a little curious to try this but with my schedule I know I will not be able to do the heat thing 3x a day....but if it's more the chickweed...I can handle that!!!

The chickweed will dissolve it on its own - but it may take up to three months. The castor oil is very helpful in reducing inflammation on the ovary. You don't necessarily have to do it 3x a day. Sometimes mine throbs and you can feel it twisting and the castor oil packs brings relief.

I took BC when my first cyst appeared. This doctor wanted to keep me on BC's . My problems were worse when I tried to stop them. I had terrible acne problem. My cycles stopped for 3 -6 months at a time. At one time I bled for 2 years without stopping!! and because I had terrible insurance at the time all they wanted was blood work. I went every Friday for 2 years to do blood work. I would sit down and cry for hours because I felt nobody cared. Couldn't find anything wrong. Just wanted to put me on BC's. Finally, I switched insurance companies and immediately called a new doctor and the first visit he done an ultrasound. My other insurance wouldn't pay for this. (A long time ago). He found out I had a huge cyst on my ovary that had been there for years. He scheduled me into surgery but before they could get me in it burst and I was hemorrhaging. Emergency surgery for me. This doctor told me that BC's is the worse thing you can do for PCO's. BC's suppresses ovary functions. Thank God I found someone who agreed with me. So he would give me provera whenever I didn't start. I wanted something more natural so I started looking into alternatives. I have been taking chickweed for a couple of months and I can tell a big difference. I had a cyst when I started taking it and then I had a cycle and that took care of that cyst. That was totally unusual for me because I usually have to take provera.

Sorry so long!!!

I'm sorry to hear what happened to you...but that's AWESOME that you found a Dr. that was knew what he was talking about. I never knew that BC's weren't good for PCOS.....my Dr. said that they were what you should take if you have reoccurring cysts......I wonder why they say to take them if they ar enot good for you....Go figure!!!

If it makes you feel any better he was the head fertility specialist at Ohio State University. He was originally from Boston and had been all over the world. He was one of the 3 leading doctors in the USA. I stopped going to him because I got a divorce and moved to KY!! But now I am getting married next month so I have been trying for the last year or so to get back into ttc so I can be prepared once we are married. I guess its time. We have been dating for 4 years.

The OSU fertility specialist told me that BC's is not what you would want to use if you had PCO's. It is like putting a band-aid on a problem. It helps but only artificially. I was told I should have never been on BC's. Once you come off of BC's it makes the condition worse. I took clomid and had a endometrial biopsy done and then I stopped pursuing. If you don't want children then BC's can control them but it doesn't cure the problem. The problem is still there. The last thing you want to do is suppress your ovary function when you have PCO's and that is what BC's does. I also worked in a medical office. We trained interns and you could tell the doctors who were broad minded and those who were text book doctors. I had a doctor who would discuss with me different herbs for different diseases. He was actually leaning on becoming a herbalist doctor.

I get it at the GNC store and it is Chickweed. I would have to look up the latin name if you want it. I am at work so I would have to wait to get home.
