Default Natural Remedies/ Herbs etc to help regulate hormones/cycle- safe?

Hello everyone,

I know this has probably been done many times before so i apologize, i did a search but couldnt really find anything helpful. Im currently taking Vitex and thinking of taking Saw Palmetto. I read that this can harm a baby boy if you were to fall pregnant with one? I just need to know because i thought the saw palmetto might be useful to decrease testosterone and hopefully bring my cycle back to normal.

What is everyone taking while ttc? Vitex has only given me limited success and i need to find something else to try. I have a reproductive specialist appointment in October and im scared he will offer me clomid and metformin (by the way im not technically IR) and i wont be able to say no because i want a baby so bad! I would rather try some natural methods first. So what is everyone taking and what kind of success have you had?
Have many people had good success with acupuncture to bring back the cycle?

Thanks so much for reading. Im so desperate for help...

If you look under Alternative Remedies (under Treatments and Conditions) you'll find a lot of information on natural remedies including acupuncture. It really is quite helpful.

Cimmy-- I too was offered met and clomid. I was not able to resist. I took the clomid 2 cycles, against my acupuncturist's advice. It gave me hot flashes, extremely uncomfortable bloating, and made me emotionally INSANE. Not just weepy, but seriously crazy-- like I was on some horrible emotional rollercoaster and couldn't get off. And I was only on 50mg, the lowest dose! Combined with the depression from all the BFN's every month, it was too much for me to handle. So I made the decision to stop it and see if I can ovulate with met alone (and all the supplements I'm taking). I know there are plenty of clomid success stories out there, so if you decide to take it I wish you the best of luck. It just wasn't for me.

Thanks for the replies

Wow jennbenn, that does not sound pleasant at all! I hope you have more success with this cycle. I had a look in the alternative therapies thread on acupuncture and that was very helpful. It has given me the push i needed to make an appointment (i hate needles lol) so i have that next week.
Thanks for your replies

Cimmy,
The needles aren't bad at all with acupuncture. It's really no worse than a mosquito bite. Good luck!
