Hey Lovedlux,
I've been on thyroid supports off and on (but now am trying to figure out if just balancing hormones improves my thyroid function - see Dr. Lee's discussion about that - sometimes supplementation with NPC will cure a thyroid imbalance).
Anyway, my thyroid hormones were normal (T3 and T4), but TSH was elevated, which means my thyroid was working harder to get the hormones out - you should ask your doc for a test (saliva tests are the best).
A good place to start is by simply taking kelp - 225 mg a day, not much. I had a friend who just did that and she lost 40 lbs in one year.
There's lots of glandular support supplements that you can find, but I'd recommend against trying them until you have your hormones tested. The danger is, if you start taking glandulars with thyroid hormones in them you might completely shut down your own thyroid, which would be BAD.
I know of one more supplement that I have at home, I forgot the name, I'll write you with it later.
Good luck!
L
