Default Natural vs DNC

Hi, long story short, I'm here. I'm 10 weeks today but my baby only measured about 7.5. It must have happened right after the u/s where we saw a perfectly health baby and heartbeat. Anyways, I've chosen to MC naturally, but I'm not sure if it's the "right" choice. (not that there is one) Has anyone MC'd naturally and now looking back, wished they had done a DNC? Or vice versa?
My head is swimming.
Thanks!

i'm so sorry for your loss. my first m/c i was given the choice of natural or d&c. i chose natural, but three weeks later when i started bleeding i just couldn't handle it. i had a d&e. i don't regret anything. i wasn't ready to give up hope that the drs were wrong and my baby was fine. when the time came and i was scared and in pain my ob came in and opened his office early for to have the procedure. i'm glad i had the d&e, there was a sense of closure the procedure provided, but i don't regret waiting for it to start on its own.

I've had naturals with all except for Maya (stillbirth) and the only one I regret is the one with Aric. It took forever in a day for him to leave me physically and emotionally it took an enormous toll on me. The other three were relatively "easy", as easy as it can be.

My 3rd m/c was twins at 8ish weeks... one was a blighted ovum, the other got to have a heart beat and then... didn't. It was the most hideous of my m/c in terms of how drawn out it was ... I took 3 doses of cytotec but I don't think it was fully effective... it was a good 3 months of off and on bleeding before everything was out. It sucked - but I never wished I had gone for a D&C because there are risks to the D&C which can make getting preg later on harder. So...

I would try to go natural - but if the bleeding is prolonged, I would ask about a D&C to tidy things up, *if* you feel you need to. Physically, I am not sure there is a need. Mentally, that is debatable.

So sorry you are going through this. *hugs*

I m/c natural and I am proud that I did....I was so scared because my Dr. said it could take awhile for it to naturally happen. I went in for my first u/s and they said I measured 6 w and 2 d so they said it could possibly be to early for a HB so they told me to come back in one week to see if there was any change so I did and I was measuring 6 w and 4 d so they were pretty sure that it was not viable but they wanted to be for sure as did I so they told me to come back in another week but in about 3 days I started bleeding so I went back and they told me I still measured 6 w and 4 d so this pregnancy was not viable and I had the choice of D&C or natural so I chose natural and in about another week I started heavy bleeding and some pretty bad cramping (but it did not last long) and as soon as the baby passed the pain was gone and I did not hurt anymore. The bleeding lasted about a week or longer. But it was not hard physically just mentally and emotionally difficult and draining. I had never been put to sleep, never been in the hospital so I was terrified on a D&C and also I was scared of the effects it might have on a future pregnancy! I am so sorry you are having to go through this. I wish the best for you!

Thank you for everyone's thoughts. I actually decided to go for the D&C. The surgery itself went fine. I started passing clots the night before and the cramping started. I only passed clots so who knows how long it would have taken for the rest of it. I just wanted to move on. The D&C let me do that and it gave me some much needed closure. Unfortunately, it wasn't able to give DH that closure yet. But I'm sure it will come with time. I feel that I made the right decision for me and my family. I have much love and respect for women who have gone through multiple m/c. I hope that none of us ever have to go through it again. Thanks again for everyone's stories and opinions.
