Default Naturally remedies and allergies????

At the beginning of 2008, I started seeing a naturopath/acupunturist and started taking vitamins and herbs. I stopped taking the herbs (it was hard to choke them down)... I'm still taking my vitamins. In April I had my cycle on my own in a very long time. I cycled the following month on my own, but the third month I spotted for a couple of days then nothing. I was reviewing my notes for when I started taking new vitamins, including when my gp put me on other medications. I noticed that my cycles stopped when my gp put me on allergy medicine. The vitamins that I take are all natural and some are derived from plants. My thinking was if I'm on 24 hour allergy medince to block my allergic reaction to plants it might cause my body to absorb my vitamins differently. So just over a month ago I stopped talking my allergy medicine. I'm still taking Benadryl when things are really bad and I'm suffering most the time but it has paid off I started a new cycle. I don't think this is a coinsidence... I think my 24 hr allergy med was preventing my body from absorbing and using the vitamins that I'm taking.

Any opinions on this?

Hmm that's an interesting theory. This page, http://www.webmd.com/allergies/guide...gy-medications, has a list of types of allergy medications and how they work. It seems like a lot of them work by shrinking blood vessels. So if allergy medications are shrinking blood vessels, maybe it's stopping the herbs from being absorbed? I have no clue and no background in medicine whatsover, just a theory of mine.

Thanks for sharing your experience with us - I think I'll stay away from allergy meds now

Default allergies

Hi,

I also have allergies, don't know to what but I have the symptoms of running nose, headaches, itchy throat and just feeling lousy which are pronounced during the changing seasons. I've been seeing an acupuncturist since January and she recommended a natural supplement called D-Hist by OrthoMolecular Products. It has helped me tremendously by getting rid of these symptoms and most importantly, I have continued to have AF visits although ovulation is still unpredictable. I'm currently doing the shutdown with NPC to see if ovulation comes back with every cycle as opposed to 1/3 my cycles.

D-Hist contains vitamin C, quercetin, stinging nettles leaf, bromelain, NAC.

Good luck.

It all depends on the acupuncturist you see. The cash price for the one I see is 60-70 dollars. I know some others pay more and less. The ultimate thing to find is someone you trust and that you feel comfortable with.

I also think it depends where the acupuncturist practices. Mine is pretty expensive. I like my acupuncturist so for me it's worth it. I may look into a cheaper alternative next year. Mine costs $105/session. Yikes!
