After trying to treat PCOS with diet, excercise and vitamin supplementation alone to not much avail (I haven't had a period since November), the doctor was ready to put me on birth control pills. I was not comfortable with that as I have read that it has side effects and is just a cover-up of the symptoms. I want something that will actually help treat the PCOS, as I want to have the option of conceiving and just having regular, natural cycles. I read on this board about Vitex and was intreged. I am very interested in herbal treatments for things. I talked to my mom as I am 17 and can't really go on an herbal regimine on my own, and she decided that we wouldn't do anything till we researched. Anyway, we got in touch with a naturopathic doctor who sounds really good and we will be working with her via phone as she lives a few states away. She sounds pretty certain that within a few months she can help the PCOS and bring on a cycle. I'm excited to start this and hope that it is helpful. We have an appointment in 2 weeks and I'll let you know how it goes! Do you any of you have any experience with naturopathic treatments for your PCOS? Did they work?

I took Vitex for a few months, and I had 28 day cycles. I had previously had 30-, 40-day unpredictable cycles. I stopped taking it for other reasons, but it worked well for me.
I plan to study more on herbs to see the best approach to treatment for me. I am hoping I can get enough money together to see a naturopath. Let us know how it goes.
I am having a lot of success working with a naturopathic doctor. I've been seeing her since March, and my lab values are now normal. She works with me on my diet-things to avoid + what to eat. She also has me on a high dose vitamin and herbs for PCOS. I would highly recommend trying a naturopathic doctor because they don't just treat the PCOS, they try to fix it for good. Good luck
My naturopathic dr had me taking PCOS Blend (3 in the AM, 3 PM) + Maternal Symmetry (same dose as previous), both by Vitanica. She also had me taking 2000 mg Omega 3 supplement. Organic meats, lots of fruit/veg, lots of water (1/2 your body wt in oz), exercise, low sugar.
Everyone is different, though. I'm sure she caters the plan based on each person individually.
I was really skeptical, but I was determined to try the natural approach before going back to clomid.
My chart shows the 2 cycles that I've been on this regimine. I usually don't O on my own.
So, we had our phone appointment, and after speaking with me for over an hour so gave me a plan including dietary suggestions and a whole herbal regimine to take. I am hopeful that it will work. She said that it might take 2-3 months. I am starting the herbs today. She gave me estrogenic herbs to take during days 1-14 of my cycle (Schisandra, black cohosh, red clover, fenugreek, and reishi) and progesterone herbs to take during days 15-28 (shisandra, wild yam, vitex, ginger, and reishi). I am excited to start and will keep you all posted on how it goes.
