I was diagnosed by a DR in St Augustine but he did not know very much and reffered me to North Florida Gyn Specialists in Jax, who helped me get pregnant and I did well for 2 years after but I have now started having problems again and would like to find a DR to treat the PCOS w/o infertility treatments. Any comments on who to see or who not to see would be appreciated.
His name Dr. Micheal Fox and some of the other associates but he was my main Doctor. He is very nice, from Chicago originally, If I were to ever want to have another child I would see him first he was fanatastic. He even gave me some fertility medicine, shots, that my insurance would not cover and gave coupons to get Metformin for free, so I did not have to pay my co-pay until he knew it would help me.
He was my doctor! He actually didn't want me to TTC until I got to my goal weight (which I told him flat out wasn't going to happen anytime soon) but he treated my PCOS really well!

Dr. T. Michael Phelan he is at 2525 Riverside Ave Jax FL (904) 388-0704. He is part of North Florida OB/GYN. He is Chief of OB/GYN at St. Vincent's Hospital and his office is located right across the street from the hospital. I also saw Dr. Fox but my insurance wouldn't let me see him any more. A friend had gone to Dr. Mike and he dx her with PCOS. I thought that might be what was wrong with me so I went to see him. He dx me and 4 mos later I was pg after 11 yrs of trying.
His wife who is also a midwife at the office has PCOS (she is a thin cyster but I don't hold that against her) so the office is well versed in the treatment of PCOS. He helped me regulate my periods and deal with all the other problems associated with PCOS. The office is actually an old house and it is very comfortable and family oriented.
He comes highly reccommended. I have used him, my SIL who has PCOS uses him, my bf who has PCOS uses him. Plus my other SIL just had a baby delivered by them last year. Dr. Phelan's father was also a OB/GYN and delivered a couple of dh's cousins!
I see Dr. Pulfus for my regular paps and he delivered my daughter. I love him but unfortunately, he and the other Drs. don't know alot about PCOS. We just got a new health insurance company and I dont think he is on the list so I dont know what I will do now. I have only lived in FL about 5 years and he was the only Ob/Gyno I had seen here so begins the hunt for another gyno.
