Default NE Ohio: Looking for PCP who gets PCOS

I had an endocrinologist ... she was great, her nurse practitioner, not so much. To make a long story short, I owe her money and cannot make an appointment unless I pay up.

Meanwhile, I need a doctor to take care of things like this potential sinus infection I'm dealing with. And refills on my met and thyroid meds would be great.

I had been using my endo as my PCP because any time I went to another doctor, I just got conflicting advice! They railed against Metformin, they assumed I was diabetic, and then there was the "low carb nazi" who had me running screaming to the endo in the first place! In other words, please do not reccomend a certain doctor in Hudson!

Dr. Faiman (endocrinologist) and Dr. Wolovitz (primary care)
These doctors work together and have a lot of pcos patients. They are the best! IF you don't need a primary care doctor, you can just see Faiman.
Location...they are in Landerbrook off Cedar Rd. in Mayfield Heights.
Good Luck!

Oh...I should also mention that these doctors believe in meds (metformin and spironolactone) and low carb diets and will monitor you every 3 months. They are also up to date with new PCOS treatments.

That's OK ... since posting this, I have found a primary care doc who comprehends PCOS. He ordered a bunch of blood work and I'm going to get more in 2 months. It's close to my house, which is a big bonus. Frankly, I can't see driving to Cleveland.

I'm already on Metformin and he's going to prescribe it when I run out. However, I have never heard of spironolactone. What is it used for? Is it available in generic? What does it treat? I do have some fluid retention and I've heard it helps with hair issues. Also, is it available in generic?

Spiro helps with water, blood pressure and hair growth. I'm not exactly sure if it is in generic...sorry. Good luck! You probably live close to where I used to live...Twinsburg (Ethans Green). I'm in Tucson now, but I really miss Ohio!
