I have to shave my neck everyday that i want to leave the house and take part in public life. I need to cover the shaved area with make-up as it is very dark compared to my skin tone. I am ok about it sometimes, but other times it gets me really down. It stops me from doing so many things and is really time consuming (takes me two hours before i can leave the house. I was just wondering how people stay strong and manage to not let it take over there lives? Or does it eventually. Does any one think a man would marry someone or just want to be with someone when it is so obvious that I have this problem. I don't know either if i would want someone to see me without my neck make-up before bed time when it's so obvious that i shave. Does anyone have the confidence to do this?
hmmmmm......i don't shave my whole neck....just under my chin and and a little bit more around there. I am married and have been with the same man for 6 1/2 years. He never says anything to me he just says it doesn't bother him. The way i see it...if a man doesn't want to be with you then he doesn't deserve you! It is pretty low of people not to accept/like others because of something as insignificant as body hair. I struggle with it everyday just like many other women on here but i just think of all the women who are hairy because it is cultural(hispanic/lationio etc.) and it helps me to remember that a lot of celebrities who are viewed as perfect are not....i mean look at them....look at britney spears for christ sake....SHE can't even make a relationship work and she is idolized around the world. If you don't accept yourself then no one else will. You just gotta remember that god wouldn't have given you anymore then he knew you could handle. All i can say is good luck and don't settle for anyone....you deserve the best! Marriage/replationships aren't/shouldn't be based on looks......
well said newlywed. I saw a thing on t.v. where jessica simpson has real bad acne problems and used proactive. and in some of her videos they had to digitly enhance her face to hide some of the breakouts.
unforutantly we live in a "celebrity" society. where it's all about the way you look. very vain society these days.
have you ever thought of laser removal? i've personally never had it done, due to not being able to afford it. but it would help you, so you would'nt have to shave. or try any meds to reduce the hair growth.
i don't know what to say to make you feel better, but just know that we all suffer the nasty "hair" syndrome. and it sucks!!! if you find a man who has a problem with it, then he has a problem in life. and you are better off without him.
hopefully someone can answer your questions you are seeking,
take care,

Thank you very much for your kind replies, you have definately given me a new perspective on things. I think I often forget that being hairy does not mean I should be treated any differently then people who aren't. I have tried both laser and IPL treatments, but to no effect. This is probably because my hormones are out of control.
I used to have the same problem. I'd tweeze and shave to no end with minimal results. Are you on birth control? It's not right for everyone but that plus a little Vaniqa and my neck hair is gone. I don't even use makeup there anymore. Just a thought.
Cheers,

Thank you very much for your advice. I am actually on dianette (birth control) and metformin at the moment. Haven't really had any effect from the dianette, but metformin is fantastic at helping to control my weight. Not sure it vaniqua is available in the uk, but i would like to see if it would help wih my hair problem. I am going to suggest it to my GP. Thank you again its nice to think that there still may be something available to help.
Cool! I've heard that weight loss can help control excess hair too, but that it takes time. I'm currently on the South Beach Diet which seems to help as well. Tomorrow is my last day of Phase I.
If Vaniqa is available across the pond, you should definitely at least try it. It worked miracles for me.
Take care and good luck!
