I didn't get a dx until I was in my 30s, but had some of the problems when I was 13-14. At that time, my dr put me on a Progesterone based BCP, and the weight came off like nothing. Can't remember which one it was, but I know at the time, all I was on was the BCP and Ativan.
Definitely discuss this with your dr. And also stay active in your treatment. More often then not, when I go to see my dr, I tell her I want to try this, try that, up this, and drop that. Then ask her opinion. And the two of us figure out my next step together.
I learn a lot from reading others' treatments and experiences on forums. Then I do a little more research on it. I never add any supplement without running it by her first, and I do ask about the possibilities of new drugs.
BTW, I did and still do have trouble with the Met and toilet issues if I don't watch what I eat. At 14 or 15, I'm sure you were probably just eating what your mom put on the table. I didn't see anyone else put this on here, so I wanted to throw it out there for you. My troubles get worse when I eat a fatty meat, fast food, or starchy meal. Met does interact with what you eat, so you need to commit yourself to a diet change while on it.
