Need advice...should I get more medical help? I have been doing so well on Met for the last 3 months, but also eating well. I recently travelled abroad and ate more bad carbs than normal and had no problems whatsoever. Since I've been back, I've had a TERRIBLE time with jetlag and insomnia. My throat was getting sore so I drank juice to get some vitamin C to avoid getting sick. It was my first time drinking juice since starting Met. My trip led me to believe I could handle carbs/sugars on occasion. I had 4oz OJ once with artichoke and pomegranite for dinner (weird I know) and then again right before bed with an egg.
Well, I woke up in the middle of the night with a bad hypoglycemic attack. I felt soooo weak like I was going to pass out. I wasn't fully coherent. My husband got me juice to "bring me back" and then I had an egg and some oatmeal to try to avoid another spike.
I should add that I'm also 5 weeks pregnant. I recognize to an extent that my having OJ caused the problem. Would you write it off as bad eating choices, or do you consider this abnormal? Should a 1/2 glass of OJ with food cause such an extreme reaction. If you consider it a bigger problem, what sort of medical help would you seek? Finally, do you think the eating choices were that bad?
One more thing..I was never tested for insulin resistance but Met completely worked for me so it didn't seem important to be tested...
Thanks you!!!!
