My doctor gave me a script for Alesse...anybody here use it? Good or bad?
I still have not had a visit from AF....and it's been 15 months since DD#2 was born! He wouldn't give me metformin, is sending me to a gyno...but in the meantime gave me some Alesse...

In the beginning it was fine, great. Then after about 6 months or so it started giving me side effects. I was itchy and had thick white discharge...I had no clue what it was...til I changed pills.
Hopefully it works better for you

I took it a long time ago, and I can't remember specifically what happened, but it didn't agree with me. I think I had a lot of breakthrough bleeding and infections etc... for me pills caused more problems than not.

I *think* the progestin in Alesse is supposed to be one of the more androgenic acting ones... making it bad for PCOS. But just to show you can't believe everything you read... for ME, it was almost a great pill. I was able to lose weight on it. It didn't turn me into the biggest b!tch in the world (many BCPs do). My body hair lessened. My head hair thickened.
The only problem I had was break through bleeding... So... alas. No Alesse for me. I gave it 2 or 3 cycles, too, because I liked the other effects so much.
So it may be worth a try, it may not.

Ive been on Alesse for 3 months was on Yasmin before but i was getting depressed, moody and lost my sex drive.
Alesse so far has been good for me, im not moody i dont experience PMS, and my drive is slowly coming back.
The only thing that is concerning me is that my periods are much lighter and they are dark in colour and dont last very long.
I was on trycyclene lo and i had huge headaches for a couple of weeks on that one.
Im going to stay on the Alesse for a bit more and see how my body adjusts to it.
Thanks for the input, RD. But what if I'm the biggest b*tch in the world already? I won't be able to tell if it's me or the BCP, bahahahaha!
But you'll be able to blame it on the BCP if anyone complains about it.

I've been on Alesse since October. The only side effect is increase in migraines. I get them several times a week. I would switch but at this point I'm tolerating it. I take Maxalt for the migraines and it mostly works so I can survive, otherwise I'd switch.
I was quite worried I'd have mood changes going on oral contraceptives, but luckily I didn't.
I do have different periods now. They are lighter and less painful, but the period I'm having right now has laster longer than a week and I'm still getting cramps.
Hopefully I don't get those side effects other people talked about down the road.
