Unhappy Need discreet way of removing facial hair

Hi Everyone.
I was just diagnosed recently with PCOS. I have facial har on my upper and lower chin and on my side burns. My side burns are not as bad and I can get away with plucking them like 2 or 3 times a week. Its the chin and neck that I can't handle. I made the mistake of shaving it and I have to shave every day now. It is so embarrassing. I have to then cover up with foundation so no one notices. I wont be seen without make up. I'm scared for anyone else to know. IS there anyone out there that knows of anything I can do to get rid of it. I can't use creams like nair as they give me a chemical reaction and it looks worse than if I left it alone. I am so self consious about it. My doctor said that she doesn't recommend the cream Vaniqua because it doesn't work that well and I would have to use it forever. It is so expensive too. I just don't know what to do. I want to not have to shave everyday and for once leave the house without makeup. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Default Someone must know

I find it hard to beleive that 14 people have read my post and no one has a response for me. I know we all have similar problems with PCOS and someone out there must know of something I could do. I am desperate here.

Thank you to anyone that replies.

I use the Emjoi Gently Gold Hair remover. It's like a epilady and it has 36 gold disks that pluck the hair. Now it does hurt a little bit when you first start using it, but I have found that the longer I use it, the the toucher my skin has gotten. To me, it doesn't feel any different than plucking out the hair with a tweezer and it's much faster. I absolutely love mine and I couldn't live without it.

I hope that I have been able to help. I cannot use the creams either because the chemicals just chew up my skin.

Good luck,

Also, if you get one of these, use short, fast strokes and that makes it hurt less.

I probably won't be of much help cause I do shave my chin. I use a lot of moisturizer on my face though and it seems to help "hide" the fact that I shave. I use clippers on my cheeks because the hair there is light and a lot softer. If you continue to shave make sure you use a shaving gel for sensitive skin. I use skintimate. Afterward, gently pat your sking dry and use a good moisturizer. I use vaseline intensive care for extremely dry skin in the winter. In the summer I try to use something lighter. But in the winter time my skin needs the extra moisture. I hope this helps you out. Good luck.

I've been using a Finishing Touch razor to shave my upper lip and mostly my neck, and its wonderful. Plus I also started using Aveeno lotion that slows down the hair re-growth (can't think of hte exact name, but I found it at WalMart)--it really and truly works. It takes a week or so to see results, but as long as you keep using it, it will slow down the hair growth.

Hope that helps!!

Beth

This Emjoi has totally piqued my intresed. I looked them up on google and the prices seem pretty reasonable. I was just wondering how long it lasted. Is this a forever kind of thing? Also, how much pain are we talking here? Is it just like waxing without the mess or is it really awful? Are there ever red marks where it tweezes or is it fairly gentle? Is it loud? (Not that that really matters, just curious.)

That's all from me, sounds like this litte gadget could be just what I'm looking for! Thanks in advance for your time!

i had the same prob as u..i started shaving because of electrolysis treatments i was going to...my face would look bad afterwards and i wouldnt leave the house for days and the hair came back anyway...so now i did impulesed light hair removal which is like a laser hair removal..i was so worried about how i would look afterwards because i had to go to work and stuff and sometimes would not leave the house because of my chin being red and bumpy all the time.....i finially went through wtih the ipl and the results were great..i did it on dec 12 a friday night...face was really red when he did it looked like i a sun burn but it didnt hurt and the laser itself didnt hurt to me at all.....my skin was back to normal the next day i couldnt beleive it no more redness from the laser i was able to go out th enext day. it took about 10 days for the hairs to start falling out..i didnt think it worked because i was still shaving everyday but when it started to work it was awesome.....i didnt have to shave all through xmas or new years....which just never happened for me i use to shave everyday..now i have alot of blonde hairs coming in that out of habit i shaved them....well tonight i went back to the laser place even though its only been 4 weeks i wanted to get my side burns done and since i was there he gave me a free touch up on my chin because a couple hairs were coming back but nothing at all what i had....and i just had it done at 630 and its now 925 and my face is hardly red at all,,,just some bumps that makeup would cover if i really wanted to go ut right now but im not...im sure it will be fine tomorrow....its so awesome to wake up and not have to shave....i rub my chin all the time i must look like a weirdo....and i think the gray shadow look has gone away alttle..........i love it...and it only cost 150 to me it is worth it.

One word....WAX!

I have been waxing my brows for YEARS (my mom started it, she is a cosmetologist). When my PCOS kicked in and the chin/neck hairs because a problem, I started waxing them too! I LOVE it!

I don't think I could ever shave for the simple fact that I hate to! I don't even shave my legs that often LOL!

The product I use came from Sally Beauty Supply. I have been using the same product for ten years almost. It is GiGi All Purpose Honee Hair Remover, Microwave Formula. They are THE BEST!

I have tried several brands and also different varieties of the GiGi brand, but none were as good as the All Purpose.

Here is a link to where you can order it from...(you don't HAVE to buy from here. I just Googled and this one popped up!)

GiGi All Purpose Honee, Microwave Formula

For the first time, I recommend ordering the kit because it has the spatulas, pre-hon, wax off, concealer and strips.

GOOD LUCK!

I do a combo on waxing and plucking. Mostly plucking, because it's free and less painful. I don't wax in a salon (at least not my neck) because I"m embaressed, so I buy at home wax for that (everything else i do at the salon). I recently discovered threading, which was so so painful but amazing. I did my sideburns and upper lip for that.

I used SurgiCreme (bought it at Wal-Mart) for my upper lip and neck. I have only done it once, but so far, DH won't stay away from me. He keeps rubbing his cheeks on my neck and kissing me.

Threading is an art practiced in India, but now many places have started doing it (at least here in new york....)
They take thread and somehow, pluck every single hair out, but quicker than if it were to be done with tweezers. I guess the difference between waxing and threading is if the wax bothers you, or the hairs don't stick to wax

Default Surgicreme?

How long does the hair stay away with Surgicreme? I know that Nair doesn't last long enough to make it worth the discomfort. Does Surgicreme cause a rash or anything?
