I need a female doctor that treats PCOS in the Dallas area. All the doctors I have found are male or not in my area. I am desperate to start some sort of treatment. Please help!
I hope this helps. I've been going to a reproductive endrocrinologist at UT Southwestern Medical Center. Her name is Ellen Wilson. The ph is (214) 648-8846. The address is James W. Aston Ambulatory Care Center at Ut SW Medical Ctr. The address is 5323 Harry Hines Blvd Dallas Tx 75390. I'm not currently trying to conceive, but if you are ck her out.
I recently read, but missed the details that UT SW Medical Ctr is holding clinical trials for pcos women trying to conceive.
Good luck in your search for a doctor.
Linda S.

Thank you for the info. I am not trying to concieve, but I will call her. I am just so sick of my doctor and even my gyno simply dismissing me. They admit I probably have PCOS, but they said there's nothing to do if I'm not try to get pregnant.
I see a great PCOS friendly Dr. in Plano, but he's a he. Any reason you can't see a man? You may be limiting your options and chances at good health, and you deserve better! I'm in Carrollton and there's a woman that's supose to be great (I can look her up if you like) BUT it can take three months to get an appointment for a new paitent.

Meds - Wellbutrin SR 150mg 2X/day, Metformin 500mg 2X/day, Pantothenic Acid 500mg 3X/day for acne, lo-ovral and my multivitamin!
Thanks for the help! I did find a female doctor in Plano, she seems really nice and has many patients with PCOS. But I really appreciate the help.
I avoid going to any male doctor because, well, I am just weird. I feel very uncomfortable around men, especially men you have to sometimes disrobe in front of.
SAVANNAH26,
I'M SO GLAD THAT U FOUND A FEMALE DOCTOR. SEEKING OUT A FEMALE DOCTOR WAS VERY IMPORTANT FOR ME, SO THAT DOESN'T MAKE YOU WEIRD. OR IF IT DOES, THEN YOU'RE NOT THE LONE RANGER B/C I KNOW A FEW WOMEN WHO WON'T GO TO A MALE DOC FOR THE COMMON COLD. WHAT IS THE NAME OF YOUR NEW PLANO DOCTOR? OTHERS MAY BE TOO SHY TO ASK.
SIDENOTE: ANSWER IF YOU CHOOSE-- YOU STATED THAT YOU FEEL VERY COMFORTABLE AROUND MEN-- DO YOU KNOW THE REASON/ ARE YOU AWARE OF THE REASON WHY. I, PRAY THAT ISN'T LIMITING YOU. I DON'T MEAN TO OVERSTEP MY BOUNDS, I'M NOT BEING NOSEY, IT'S THAT I KNOW MANY WOMEN W/ HAVE ADDITIONAL LIFE ISSUES AND NEED SUPPORT.
LATER DAYS,
LINDA S.

My new doctor is Dr. Lakhian with Endocrine Associates of Dallas, at the Plano Hospital Complex. Her contact number is 972-867-4658.
As to the man-thing...lol I have just always felt uncomfortable with men in an one-on-one basis. I'm not afraid, really, they just make me feel nervous. The therapist I had when I was a teenager said she thought I purposely mede myself fat so I wouldn't have to deal with men being attracted to me, or interacting with me. I'm not sure how true that is, but whatever. I have always been one to shy away from dating, while my other friends dated, or desparately WISHED they were dating. I just relate better to women, and feel less awkward in a formal situation, like a doctor visit, or a business metting.
I see Dr. Sorsby in the same practice. He's very nice.
I don't mind male doctors but would like to find a female gyno in Plano. My male gyno is a jerk and very dismissive of PCOS. He keeps telling me that I have to have a hysterectomy to cure my PCOS or I'll get cancer.
