Thumbs up Need GORP recipes

Hi All!

I'm looking for snacks to carry to the park... Any GORP-y ideas?

Here's a variation on a chex mix recipe out of The Fix it and Forget it Cookbook. I haven't tried it yet...but it's a crockpot recipe.

All-American Snack---makes 3 quarts

3 cups thin pretzel sticks
4 cups Wheat Chex
4 cups Cheerios
12 oz can salted peanuts
1/4 cup melted butter OR margarine
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp celery salt
1/2 tsp seasoned salt
2 T grated Parmesan cheese

1. Combine pretzels, cereal, and peanuts in large bowl.
2. Melt butter. Stir in garlic powder, celery salt, seasoned salt, and Parmesan cheese.
3. Pour into large slow cooker. Cover. Cook on LOW 2 1/2 hours, stirring every 30 minutes. Remove lid and cook another 30 minutes on LOW.
4. Serve warm or at room temperature. Store in tightly covered container.

What exactly is GORP?
1. Ants on a Log - celery w/peanut butter and raisins
2. mix of peanuts and raisins
3. veggie sticks and/or cut up fruit
4. popcorn w/parmesan cheese
5. jerky (if you like it )
I'll add more as I think of them....

Finally, Something I know. GORP stands for Good Old Raisins & Peanuts. The GirlScouts use this for hiking & camping Snacks. We usually add Cheerios & M&M's to the mix. But you could use Craisins, Granola, Shredded Coconut, or whatever you like that is dry.
