Default Need help with dark areas on skin.

Hello, I'm a newbie and a African-American female who has PCOS. I use a cream remover for my facial hair every day (sometimes a electric shaver to catch the missed hairs) and its called the skin around my mouth and cheek bones to darken. I look like I have a five o'clock shadow. I wear make up to cover it up but in the summer, make up is useless because of the heat and honestly I don't always want to rely on make up. I also have a dark patch between my breast from shaving as well.

My doctor has written me scripts for PCOS including vaniqua to help with the facial hair growth. Can any PCOS women of color (or anyone who knows a woman of color going through this) recommending a good fade cream/cleanser for my face (and body) I've heard recommendations for Ambi and Black Opal but wanted to get feedback from others who have PCOS.

Also, does anyone else have this problem. How do you deal with it?

I don't have this problem but I know that Avon has a few products that you can try using. They have fade and peel cleansers and skin discoloration (banishing) creams. Maybe you can try a few products from them. HTH

Ask your doctor for an Rx for Tri-Luma.

It won't work for AN (dark skin around neck and under arms), but on the face and chin, it will have any spots (even really, really dark ones) completely gone in about 2 weeks.

Warning: it's pricey, and not covered by insurance, but the tube should actually last you a couple of years (you only use a teensy bit of cream at night.)

Is vaniqua covered by insurance? As I recall, it wasn't cheap, either. You might be better off getting laser on your face. Depending on where you live, it's actually quite affordable. Even 1 or 2 sessions will have MUCH stronger effect than the Vaniqua.

Vaniqua was not covered by my insurance and I have BCBS. It was $70.00 and I didn't get it so I can't say how well it will work.
