I finally made a Dr appt, it is tomorrow and I was just wondering are there any specific tests or questions I should ask them? I have a million questions already but just in case I missed something........maybe you can help.
I was told last February that I have a history of PCOS (I guess for the past 8 years but I was only told last Feb). I am kind of nervous to go but I have a friend coming with me. Please if any of you have any suggestions on questions or tests I should ask for please let me know.
There are sooo many questions to ask. Have you gotten any tests done or they diagnosed you based on your history? Make sure to get tests done and make sure you are very comfortable with your doctor. Good luck!
Kate

Hi Julie,
Best of luck for your appointment. I have a doctor phobia, so I can relate to being nervous about going.
My doctor tested me for diabetes, IR, hypothyroid, prolactin, and probably several other things I'm not remembering right now! Also I had an ultrasound (abdominal and vaginal). And after I started met my dr. did bloodtests for liver enzymes too.
Let us know how everything goes
Hugs
Jenny

My appt went ok, I like the nurse I saw today. She spent about 1 hour with me asking me all kinds of questions. Some I would have never though of telling her about. Nothing was done today, I have to fast over night and go for blood work in the morning. Then I have to go back in two weeks, they will give me a preg test (which will come out neg) and from there prescribe provera and do a pap. Boy my hubby is going to be mad, she said ABSOLUTLEY NO SEX for TWO WEEKS!!!!!!!!!!!
Have a good night
Julie
Oh by the way, Did you know you can get pregnant even if you had not had a period in over a year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had my follow up appointment today. I DO have pcos, however, the bloodwork they took 2 weeks ago showed that there is something wrong with my liver (and I don't even drink.)After this I may start.
I have to go to the hospital on Monday for an ultrasound for that and for my ovaries. My appt is at 8:15p.m and I can not eat or drink 8 hours before (except 90 minutes prior I have to drink alot of water and then try to hold my bladder when they are pressing on my stomach). How fun is that. Well anyway, I went to the Dr for one thing and up comes another. Isn't it fun being a woman!!!!
About the liver test: Was it the liver enzymes that were off? When I was on met, mine were slightly high one time. It was also not long after I'd had my daughter. My doctor wasn't too worried, sometimes you get a funny result on met and he said that he was sure my liver was OK. Sure enough, the repeat test was fine. Hope yours is too.
Let us know how your ultrasound goes. We're here for you.
Jenny

I almost forgot to tell you, that the Dr put me on provera so I can get AF again. This is kind of depressing since I have not had to worry about that for the last 15 months. But....I guess it is better to have her come visit once in a while than to never see her at all. LOL
Good luck on Monday....my doctor is also sending my for an ultrasound just as a matter of course. He thinks I may have "fatty liver". Keep us posted on how you do... Doesn't "fatty liver" sound like something you'd criticize if your ordered it in a restuarant?? Eewwwww......

Julie, I wouldn't be worried about the liver thing. That's happened to me a couple of times and after more testing it was fine. I know af has been on a vacation from you for a while, but remember we should at least have one every other month. At least this way you have controll over it lol! typically af show's up around 5 days after last dose. But sometimes it can show up before you een finish them or way after. 80% of the time for me is about 5 days after. I hope your test on monday are fine. Keep us posted.

haeneleh....about the liver thing in the resteraunt, I does sound something like that. I told my hubby depending on what the ultrasound showed they told me they may do a biopsy. He said if they do a biopsy do you want onions with your liver. LOL He is a funny guy. It's just his way of dealing with this until we know what is going on. He worries too much, and since we have been together since I was 14 and he was 17 (18 years) we are very close. I will definatley tell him this one, this will make him laugh.
Sandra......That is what I was told that AF should show up about 5days to a week later. I am just wondering how mean AF is going to be when she does come to visit. I hope not too mean or I'm kicking her ass out of here. LOL
KatCarney......Thanks for the links. I like to read up on things so I have an idea of what to expect.
As I am typing, I just got a call from the hospital to confirm my appt and pre register me for the ultrasound. So I am definatley all set for Monday night.
I will post when I get home, not that I will know anything but maybe I will be able to tell if the ovaries look like swiss chesse. As far as the liver, I don't know what im looking for but maybe I can squeeze some info out of the tech.
