Unhappy In need of a little support

Hey there. My name is andrea and I'm 18 y/o. I was diagnosed with pcos just over a month ago. My periods have never been regular but I never imagined anything was actually wrong with me. I'm kinda scared about the diagnosis and I'm having a really hard time with symptoms. Especially nausia. I am always feeling sick and randomly have really bad bouts of vomiting. It is really starting to take it's toll on me. I am even having to take a leave of absence from my job. I guess my point is that I don't know anyone else who has this and it makes me feel really alone a lot. I could really use some support and just someone to talk to who understands what im going through and I offer support to anyone in return. Thanks

welcome to soul cysters! i was diagnosed at 18 too. It's a hard age to be diagnosed. Are you taking any medication?

I was diagnosed about a month ago, too. I expected it for a while so I was happy when it was official. Now I can take medication and make it better. It's okay to me afraid and nervous. Just know it is best that you caught it early before it could mess you up badly. Catching it while you are a teen means you can treat it early and can greatly reduce chances of PCOS-related complications later like infertility and uterine cancer from not having regular periods.

Hi! I've been diagnosed for about 3 and a half years and I'm 16. I never had a problem with vomiting or nausea. But, I know what you mean about having to take work off, and also I missed about 30 days of school because I have endometriosis. I know it's not the same thing, but I had some much pelvic pain that I was on vicodin for about 3 months straight. So I do know what you mean about feeling alone. All my friends thought I was just skipping, but in reality I felt bad that often. Also, my doctor still doesn't know why I continue to have pain, so I'm still on vicodin, but if you ever need to talk you can PM me!

Hi Andrea! I am currently 21 but was officially diagnosed with PCOS when I was 16. I was unoffically diagnosed with it when I was 15. I have had a little bit of a rough time with it as well.

If you need to you can always PM me.

I'm 18 and recently diagnosed, too. It is really scary, but it's so much better to be diagnosed early and to finally understand what's going on with your body.
