Default need meds help

Hi, I am having a hard time trying to decide what to do about BC pills. I finally got into see a specialist and revisit the medication issues available now that Metformin has helped us PCOS girls. I was daignosed about 11 years ago and have kept on BC pills to keep everything still since, except for two pregnancies with Clomid.

I am pretty miserable on my BC pills and am about to throw them down the drain except I fear side affects. I am scheduled to visit the DR. the end of September so I have a bit of a wait to sit here and continue feeling miserable. I'd really love to throw the pills and was wondering if it would be easier if I went off them when going for my appointment anyway. i.e. hormones testing, IR testing, etc. I don't want to get another lecture and be thrown back on Provera to induce AF. Sooo, any ideas? I'm pretty spent on all this stuff and worrying about getting my side affects all charged up again but am sick of how BC pills make me feel. Anyone in the same boat? I am also concerned about taking them for so long-18 years total now. Has anyone else switched to met or other meds that used to take BC Pills and feels better now? Please share your advice!

Thanks again. I've surfed almost every board trying to find an answer so I decided to just post and see what happens.

Christine

Can you call your MD and ask about going off the BCPs before your appt? I was off BCPs for almost 2 years before conceiving, taking Prometrium (like Provera, only natural progesterone not synthetic, resulting in less side effects, esp. moodiness) every cycle to bring on AF. I plan on going back on BCPs after the baby comes to control some of the out of control hormone effects, which were not controlled by the Prometrium. But I know what you mean about being sick of them--I had been on them 8 years straight before we decided that I would go off them. I was lucky I did go off them to "straighten out my periods" before TTC because my resulting irregular periods (yet again) led to being finally diagnosed...and not after months or years of TTC like so many others.

Well. sorry to blab on so, hope this helped a tiny bit...just to know you aren't alone.
Godspeed!
