I had a great Dr (Dr Thie) until it came time to try to conceive and then it went down hill. Anyway, that is for another post. I plan on going to Dr. Chin sometime at the first of the year in order to try and get pregnant, but I need just a general gyn, that knows about PCOS. For my yearly's and all that good stuff, because I will not be going back to Dr Thie again!!! Anyone know of one?
Thanks
Erin

The name of the Dr. is escaping me, but I was living in Cincy when I was first diagnosed in 2001. At that time there was a lot of research going on at the Jewish Hospital in Cincy. Go to their site: http://www.jewishhospitalcincinnati.com/
Sorry I can't be more help. If I find more into I will post back.
The doctor at Jewish doing all of the research is Dr. CJ Glueck. I've never seem him, but my friend went to him and said that while he does know a lot about PCOS that he doesn't listen AT ALL and because of that she moved on.
The Endo she reccommended is Dr. Ann Beers. She is a reproductive endo with the Patient First Group in NKY. Her office is near St. Elizabeth Medical Center South Unit. I see her for the first time next wed so I'll let you know how it goes.
She was willing to have my friend try Byeatta, which no one else would even consider. I like that she's open to try new things.
Good Luck!
****** Edit: She is a regular endo, NOT a reproductive one. Sorry! ******

Thanks for the info. I have decided to try Crescent womens medical center. I basically need a gyno for my annual exams. I am trying to treat the PCOS naturally with herbs and accupuncture and seems to work well for me. As for my fertility issues I think I might give Dr Chin a try here in Cincinnati. But for now I want to stick with the natural stuff.
Thanks again for your info. Let me know how you like Dr Beers and will put her on my list if you think she is good.
Good luck to you!!
Erin

We really didn't do much during the visit because I had all of my labs from a month or so ago so she didn't need to run them again. Still she took about an hour and fifteen minutes to listen to me and ask me questions. I really feel like she knows what she's doing and that she's going to help.
Plus she's willing to try different things so I don't feel like I'm going to have to go somewhere else if I don't get results. It's the first time in a long time I've been happy about a new Dr.
I highly reccommend her!

someone recommended dr thie to me so i was thinking about calling her soon. would you recommend i go elsewhere, and why? feel free to PM if you'd rather...
I saw Dr. Chin. He is a GREAT guy. He is super nice and very intelligent. He only does IUI and low tech treatments for infertility. I actually conceived with IVF. I saw Dr. Awadalla at the Institute for Reproductive Health. Dr. A does low tech and high tech. I totally LOVE him. He use to be partners with Dr. Chin. Both are wonderful and very caring. I have nothing but positive things to say about both doctors. Best of luck to you! I cannot give a name of a regular GYN because I live near Dayton. I just went south for infertility.
I absolutely love Dr. Scheiber and Dr. Awadalla at the Institute for Reproductive Health. Dr. Scheiber was my main Dr., but i saw Awadalla a few times too. Their staff is so nice and they take such good care of you and listen well. Here is their website: http://www.cincinnatifertility.com/P...s/Overview.htm
I really like my OB/GYN also. they have a number of offices i usually go to their Clifton or Mason office. The are called Mt. Auburn Women's Center. I see Dr. Mable Roberts and Dr. Wendle (he delivered my daughter in December'06).

I'm from the Cincinnati area, so this thread was really useful to me! If anybody else has any new information on PCOS specialists or the like around Cincinnati, please let post =) Thank you!
I am also in the Cincinnati area. I am a thin cyster just dx in August by my regular ob/gyn, Dr. Tara Knipper of Group Health Associates, and am currently working with her for my treatment. She has been great so far. She is also a great support because she herself is a thin cyster with 3 kids and one on the way!! Getting appointments has always been pretty easy, though she can be a little hard to get a hold for questions and results, but she does get back with you.
I also know of three cysters who have had successful treatment/healthy pregnancies with Dr. Glueck, however I have been warned that his bedside manner is awful BUT that he knows his stuff. For now, I am staying with Dr. Knipper and just started taking Met about a month ago (even though I am non-IR), but I think its working because I finally got a real period!! Hoping for regular cycles and a BFP soon!!
