Help me, cysters! I am currently 13.5 wks PG and naturally off of my Spiro. It is time to buy new foundation and I need something to soak up the oil. My face is so bad that i usually end up looking like the Exxon Valdese within 2-3 of a freshly wahed face. Any suggestions for oil absorbing shampoo either????
Thanks!
Jen

I have pretty oily skin, and I love Mary Kay Day Radiance Oil-Free Foundation. It does the best job of any foundation I have ever used of keeping my face from looking like an oil slick. If you don't know any Mary Kay reps personally, there is always a ton of Mary Kay for sale on eBay.

If ya got the money I suggest Lancome, oil-free foundation.. It's about 40 bucks a pop.It has good coverage and it makes your face matte. You can buy it at Macy's or Nordstroms. Also Studio Tech from MAC, it's about 26 bucks. Also MAC had a good concealer, studio tech for about $12. Tip: Use those rice papers to blot out the oily look, it's better than caking on the powder... good Luck

I agree with lemondog about the Mary Kay Day Radiance. I use the regular Day Radiance and it is not oily...in fact, sometimes it is rather drying on my skin and my nose peels a little. Then I just step up the moisterizer. I would imagine that the oil free would be even more drying for oily skin. I believe they also sell some oil-blotting type tissues, too, for maintenance during the day.
Their "blush ivory" is the perfect color for me! blends right in with no lines!
I also agree that Mary Kay has the best oil-free makeup that I have been able to find. My face also gets oily about 2-3 hours after I wash it, but using Mary Kay keeps my face from getting oily until about mid afternoon and even then it is not bad. I use the Creme to Powder foundation because it gives me a better coverage.
One more vote for Mary Kay. I use the face-care products too (cleanser, toner, oil-control lotion) and my skin has never looked better. (Not perfect, but much better.) I also use Blush Ivory! Perfect shade for moi (and also KlassicalKat).

I have pretty oily skin, I have been using Clinique since I was 13 and is wonderful! They have several different types of foundation for oily skin, you can get it at most department stores and it isn't too pricey -- about $16-25 depending on what kind you get, and it lasts a long time. The salespeople at clinique counters tend to be very helpful and knowledgeable and can help you pick one out. I agree with the ladies about Mary Kay too -- I know a lot of people who use it and love it , I can't use it because I'm allergic. Good luck!

Hi, I recommend mineral powder foundation. The one that I use is made by Youngblood cosmetics. Their website is www.ybskin.com This is a powder foundation that covers beautifully and has helped control oil for me. I have tried everything and nothing has ever worked this well! If you send them an email, they will send you free samples. Give it a try!

I checked out that website (Young Blood) and the products look great. Do they really work that well? What products and colors do you use?

I LOVE the Mac pressed powder foundation. It goes on really sheer but keeps the oil at bay. I use it in the summer when my face is oily. In the winter, I dry up a bit do I use a liquid foundation.
Good luck.

I use their natural mineral foundation in soft beige. The coverage is amazing! I have a lot of redness in my face due to rosacea and this makeup covers it beautifully! I apply mine with a makeup sponge and if I just need light coverage, I use a makeup brush. When I sent for samples, I requested about 5 different colors so I could figure out the right one for me. My sample lasted me about 2 to 3 weeks! This makeup requires very little product for maximum coverage!! It costs about 35.00 for .35 ounces. I have had mine for 4 months and it is still over half full! I have tried Mary Kay, Clinique, Lancome, Estee Lauder, Dermablend, MAC and countless others and while I really liked different aspects of each of the others, nothing has ever worked as well for me as mineral foundation. The foundation also doubles as a concealer, so there is no need to buy separate concealer, powder and foundation, it does the work of all three! I hope this helps!!

I have always had problems with liquid makeups. Oil free and whatever, by lunchtime, I feel like they're just sliding off of my face. I LOVE (I can't stress it enough) Max Factor's Pancake makeup. You put it on with a damp sponge. You get to control your coverage (wetter sponger, sheer coverage; slightly damp sponge, fuller coverage) and because it's water based, it "dried" after about three minutes. Doesn't wipe off with tissues like liquid makeups. Also, I love rice papers. They're thin like tissue paper, and absorb the oil off of your face. You're actually getting rid of the oil instead of covering it up with more makeup. Clean and Clear makes them, as well as Almay and Bath and Body. Good luck!
I have ALWAYS had oily skin and know what you mean about feeling like a lube rag as soon as you wash your face. I usually wouldn't even wear makeup because it would just run off.
My sister started selling Mary Kay products and I tried the oil free foundation. It is completely oil free and when you buy it you'll have to make it very clear that you want the OIL FREE foundation because they won't offer it, because your skin has to be REALLY oily for it to not go on like chalk and most people who think they have oily skin just DON'T KNOW what oily skin really is, you know? Also, there is an Oil Control Lotion that actually soaks up oil. Ask for Formula 3 Oil Control Lotion and put that on before your makeup. It works very well and I thought I'd never find anything that could handle my oily face. As for cost, it's a little cheaper than most Clinique products... the foundation is about $18 a bottle and the oil lotion is something like $16, but they do last longer than you'd expect and it is very worth it. At least give it a try. I'm sure there's someone in your area who sells these products. If not and you want to try it, send me an email (ahale78@cs.com) and I can get you the exact prices and ship it to you.
Another thing that has helped my skin not be as oily is Ortho-Tri-Cyclen. I don't know if you take birth control pills, but if you're going to, you should try this one. It took about 3 months for me to see the difference but I'm starting to see it now. Less oil means fewer zits, and my skin looks more even now. I can't explain it, it just looks better. Glucophage seemed to make a difference too. Good luck!!
