Smile Need prayers in regard to career change!

Hello all!

I have recently decided that I want to go to nursing school. I hadn't mentioned it to anyone except my husband. The local tech school offers an LPN program (2 years), and I figured I could take that, then work and go back for R.N.....

SO...today I mentioned it to my mom, and she tells me that she saw in the paper just this week that the same tech school will be offering an Associates Degree in Nursing starting this fall, and you will be an R.N.! WOW! BUt, they expect over 400 applications, and they are only accepting 35-40 in the program...

I am NOT sure what to pray for! I want to just give it to God, and let him lead me where he will. I think that he is leading me to nursing as well... (I went to school to be a medical transcriptionist and currently work as one). I know that I would LOVE to be a nurse. I really want to be an R.N. because in KY you can only be a midwife if you are an R.N., and women's health is what I really would like to focus on...

I am so confused. I never like to pray for God to give me something (don't pray for it, you just might get it). I always pray that he leads me in the right direction and if it is where He wants me, he will make it happen.

Sooo...I almost feel DESPERATE about this. I never feel this hyped up over anything...

So, if any of you praying gals could just send a prayer up that God lead me where he wants and if it is his will, he let this happen for me.

THANKS to you all! God bless!

I am replying to my own post (LOL).

After praying about it last night and sleeping on it, I feel more at ease. I KNOW that if it is God's will, it will happen. Maybe some of you were praying for me and it helped too!

ANyway...keep up the prayers and I will check back after Tuesday when I can go talk to the school (of course Monday is a Holiday!) I want this SO bad, but I want it to be where he leads me...

THANKS LADIES!

StaciieM,
I truely understand your plight. I'm experiencing that same conflict. I suffer from carpal tunnel (severe) in both hands & need to have carpal tunnel release surgery, but my employer is fighting the worker's comp. I work in a major call center where typing, data entry is the primary functions, & boredom is stresssssful. I want God's direction & guidance to avoid the "me" factor in a career search.
My prayers will be with you for God' perfect will for the career change that you seek.
Peaceful Journey,
Linda S.

Thanks so much ladies...it means a lot to know that other people are in my situation and will be thinking of me.

So many times I hear how LUCKY I am...and in many ways it is true. I have a job that pays fairly well and I get to work at home. I am sure that if I ever have children, that would be a great benefit...BUT it is not a job I LOVE! I would rather work 40 hours a week doing a job I love than work 20 hours a week doing a job I don't feel passionate about.

I think I will make a good nurse as well! There are in such demand in my region! I have always wanted to do women's health and would love to work in that area.

Hopefully God will see to it that this works out for me...but I know that he will let me know in his time what his will his, and my heart will be at peace knowing that.

Its so funny in church today...a woman had wrote a letter to the church thanking them for some help they had given her, and spoke of how it helped her so much that she is finally going to go to school to be a nurse. It felt like I was MEANT to hear that this morning! And then, in our closing prayer our pastor actually said "And Lord, we pray for your guidance in the decisions we are facing" and I knew that God would listen.

Thanks!

You know, Staciie, God works in mysterious ways! I believe you were meant to hear that woman's letter too. I think it's great that you feel such a calling to the nursing profession, and such a strong desire to work in women's health. I will definitely keep you in my prayers that God will lead you in the right direction...but I think you're already on your way! I like to think that sometimes when something like this happens (your desire to change professions) that's already God leading us in a new and exciting direction. And if you can't get in this particular school, keep trying. Try another one. It might take longer, but as my Great Aunt Effie (the greatest woman who ever lived, BTW!)always said "Nothin' worth doin' was ever fast and easy!" It might be a long, hard haul ahead, but don't give up on something you really want. Whatever twists and turns rise up in the road along your path, navigate them with the knowledge that you are meant to do this, and the strength of God within you. Good luck to you, your future patients will definitely be blessed to have you caring for them.

I sure know how you are feeling. I was called to be a midwife. After a long long time praying about it, I saw too many doors open to be able to ignore them. Follow your heart and what God's plan is for you. Being a midwife is a scary thing, but if it is what you are called to do, then study hard and be the best midwife you can be. People's lives depend on you!

Default UPDATE!!!

Well...come to find out, I am not eligible to apply for the program beginning in Aug of 2004 because I have not taken the nurse aid class yet. Sooo...I will be taking that class this fall (along with a few pre requisites) and then I will be eligible to apply for the fall of 2005. It seems like it is so far away, but I know that it really isn't. If I get accepted next spring and start in Aug of 2005, I would graduate the program in 2007. It seems like FOREVER, but I feel really comfortable with the decision. I KNOW that this is what I want to do, and (unlike usual) I am 100% willing to work hard to get there.

I do still need prayers! I *pray* that I get accepted next spring, esp. after taking classes to help get me in.

They said they are looking at all facets of an applicant to determine who gets in. I am currently a medical transcriptionist (which I think *might* help get me in). I know that ACT score are part of it as well, and I got a 27 on that (although it has been a few years ago). They also said that having completed some of the pre-reqs would boost an applicants chances, so I am def. going to do that as well.

Thanks for praying for me ladies! I feel so good knowing that other people are thinking of me and rooting for me as well.

GOD BLESS!!!

StaciieM

Question med transcriptionist

Would you be able to tell me more about that, either here or in email? I would love to have a job where I could work at home, whenever I have kids, I want to homeschool them. What kind of training do you need. And, is there still a good market for that? I think my old roommates mom did that, but then they began sending all the jobs to india because of cheap labour, so she was going to be out of a job. Is this a nationwide problem, or maybe just in our area-indiana. Any info is appreciated.
