I have been ttc for over a year now and am relocating to the New Castle, DE area. If anyone knows of any fertility specialists in Delaware or even Philly area, I'd appreciate it!!!
I very highly recommend Dr. Feinberg. He is a part of Reproductive Associates and they are located in Medical Arts Pavilion II of the Christiana Hospital in Newark.

I know it is pretty far, but I went to U Penn. I primarily went to the Radnor, PA office and saw Dr. Barnhart and Dr. Pfeiffer, and I thought they were both great and knew their stuff.
While at Penn, I read an article in a magazine saying that Penn is one of only 8 centers in the entire U.S. that gets funding from the Nat'l Institutes of Health (NIH) for clinical IVF research, and the only one currently getting funding for laboratory based IVF research. I think that says a lot about their program.
I also liked that at U Penn, all of my follie scans while on injectables were done by a doc vs. a tech (which was the case at my previous RE). I thought it was nice that they wanted to see for themselves, and also that I had a chance to ask questions, etc. each and every time I had a scan (3-4 x a week) and get "face time" with the doc.

I actually saw Dr. Feinberg today. I am sure that he has helped many people. He made me wait 90 minutes to see him, for starters. After going over for the 700th time, just in his office alone, the issues I was facing, he asked me what I wanted him to deal with, to fix. I asked that he deal with the painful periods and unanswerable weight gain. He flat out indicated he would not help with the painful periods, that perhaps the pill would deal with those issues, and that he was not a life style management specialist. After explaining that I had been trying to lose a set amount of weight for 1 full year, he said, imagine what I might look like had I not been so careful about what I ate and how I exercised. I had just had an ultrasound run, just 2 weeks prior, and I have to have another run in 4 weeks. He said I should have one run at HIS facility, and then these other tests to check my uterus. Nothing about insulin tests, and he was totally unconcerned about the 100% above normal reading for DHEA test and the 20% above normal for testosterone. I was wholly unimpressed. If he helps others, that is great. There were many comments about how I was not trying to be pregnant, and so that was not as serious. I will not type what I think to that.
Trader - I am sorry about your experience. It may be more helpful for you to see an endocrinologist who can deal with more of the insulin and weight problems. Dr. Feinberg is a reproductive endocrinologist so the majority of his patients are people looking to become pregnant. Also, your regular GYN should be able to address the painful periods and help you out with that. I am not trying to be smart here or sarcastic, just trying to think of a reason as to why it happened the way it did. Once again, I am sorry about your experience.

I have a reference in Bryn Mawr, PA for a great Endo (not a reproductive one though). Her name is Ady Djerassi and she listened to me like no doctor has EVER done. She was very kind to me and ultimately diagnosed me and put me on Met. She works out of Bryn Mawr Hospital.
I am grateful every day I found someone who would listen.
Best,
Sarah

I see Dr. Katherine Sherif of MCP Hahnemann Hospital in Philly for my PCOS...her collegue Dr. Shahab Minassian deals with the RE side of things there. His phone # is 215/762-3600.
However, I have no personal experience with him (Dr. Sherif is very good, though!).
For now, I'm goign with Dr. Feinberg. I had my first appointment a couple of weeks ago, and I have to say that I have a very good feeling about the place. Maybe because I AM trying to get pregnant (and how), and that's what they specialize in, they seemed to have a systematic, organized and kind way of going through it all. Right now I'm waiting for AF so I can get my hsg and then I go back to hear what his recommendation is. I did like that the first time we spoke and went through everything I did so with my clothes on, and that when I did go back for an exam and baseline ultrasound, they have cloth robes. And a couple of days after my first appointment, the patient coordinator called to make sure I didn't have any questions and that everything was okay, since there is a lot to keep track of (pills. tests, etc.). So like I said, I had a good first impression.
Just thought someone else might like some feedback.
Riverchick -
I am glad to hear that you like Dr. Feinberg so far. I think he is the best. He has given me the baby we so dearly wanted. Now, I just need to wait 5 more months to see him/her.
Keep me posted on your progress.
