Default Need some help from other fluffy sisters!

Ok girls this is the problem I'm having. Where do you find Maternity clothes for a plus-size woman. I lost 30lbs prior to getting pregnant, so I am wearing my "fat pants." I was a size 18/20. Now my old 22 are way more comfortable, can't even button my 18's without feeling like if I breath I would hit somebody across the room with a button. I know it sounds as if I've blown up, but I haven't... I've only gained 4lbs. Which puts me back at the weight I was when I found out that I'm pregnant. ( I lost weight at first) I just don't want to be buying big pants. I would rather have maternity pants. Any idea where to buy them?? I went shopping this weekend but only found maternity going up to XL. Didn't bother I know I'll need bigger than that.

Motherhood Maternity has sizes up to 3X, there's not as big as a selection as their regular sizes but they still have some really cute stuff.

Im not in US, but i had the same problem here in ireland. ive only recently gained my baby weight, but the minute I found out i was preg, I couldnt wear any of my normal clothes, my tummy felt too tender and i worried about hurting the baby.

Here in Ireland its extremely difficult to find anything over a size 18. One shop fits me in an 18, but sags under my bum. The other shops i wear a size 20 from, but they have to be boy fit baggy ones. Have you tried all the usual maternity clothes shops? have you checked online? I ended up buying all of mine online or buying a bigger size and fitting it with elastic at the sides. Perhaps you could bring it to a dress maker to fit the elastic?

I am currently 250lbs and 5'3. Believe it or not, i have on a pair of XL maternity jeans from Kmart. My husband was like, "Try these on". I laughed, seriously an xl? I usually wear 22 jeans and 3x shirts. But they fit me!!! I was shocked. Just try them out and see. Plus i just go to Walmart and find 4x shirts now. I normally wear 2x-3x but the 4x feels so comfortable. Longer and wider. Don't waste a lot of money on cute maternity clothes. With a baby on the way, i am sure you can find better things to spend that cash on right?

I'm also an 18/20. Target goes up to 2XL. Also, JCPenney has some 2XL stuff. JC Penny also has a maternity catalog with bigger sizes as well.

I was 225 before fertility meds then jumped up to 235 when I found out I was pregnant. I was able to wear my fat cloths for a bit but had to switch to maternity cloths. It seems like maternity cloths don't measure the same as regular cloths. Just becaue it says 1x doesn't mean its a normal 1x. I bought a pair of 2x maternity jeans from motherhood and can still fit into them. Will be able to for a while. With the shirts, I just look for 3x shirts. I don't see the point in spending the extra money on the shirts. If you are into it, try some local thrift stores. I see no point in spending a ton of money on shirts when those shirts are in good shape. Especially when i'll be out of them in a couple of weeks. I will buy maternity pants though. I sit for 12 hours a day and can't take the tightness of regular pants. Moral of my long story, try on the maternity cloths before you give up on them. They are not the same as regular cloths!

Like you, I normally wear pants in size 18/20. I usually wear tops in XL-3X depending on the brand and how the chest fits. I have no local options for plus size maternity so I shopped at Motherhood online. I took my measurements and found that the site suggested I wear an XL top and a 1X pant. I even put in my measurements for a bra and it sized me for a 44E. I have never shopped for clothes online before because I love trying things on, but like I said, I had no choice. Anyways, I got my order in about a week and everything fit PERFECTLY. I was sooo surprised. Anyways, I'd say their sizing charts are pretty great- I mean it put me in the correct size bra, for crying out loud and it's hard to find a good fitting bra! :-D

I wear an 18/20 too and motherhood is the only place I can shop. I buy the 1x pants, and shirts I usually just try on. I think the one I bought this pregnancy from there is xl but it won't fit me at the end but that was ok with me since it is a summer shirt. I only buy from the clearance rack for shirts but I figure pants I wear enough to justify full price.

I was between a 17 and 18 when I got preg. I got a wonderful pair of 1xl pants from motherhood. I would want to try them on too. they have diff kinds of bands and I have both kinds and HATE the lower one I have. I like for my belly to be covered.

Motherhood is also with Pea in a Pod, and Destination Maternity. HTH

I'm so glad to read this thread! I'm a fluffy girl... and recently lost 40 pounds and got down to 16/18 pants. I'm only 6 weeks TODAY and my 18's are already tight even though I've only gained HALF of a pound! That is SO scary to me!!! What's up with THAT? Bloating? I know it's not the baby yet!

I SOOOOOOOO WISH I would have known I was going to get pregnant BEFORE I threw out all those 20's, 22's and yes... even 24's. That would have gotten me by for a little while at least!

I'm relieved to hear that I will at least be able to find SOMETHING!!!

I found a great pair of maternity jeans at motherhood...they are stretchy and have a full panel. I love them!
Go in the store and try stuff on. They are so helpful there.
FYI: Gordman's also sells motherhood maternity stuff, but you won't find the helpful staff.

Have you thought about trying a belly band? They are nice for when you can still sort of wear your old clothes. Not that expensive for one either. I know they sell them at Target, but all I can usually find in the store is S,M,L of course!
I had the same problem as you early on...regular clothes weren't fitting right but it was too early for maternity clothes.

The pants at Motherhood are great. And I was the same size when I got pregnant sometimes even in the 22's. I wear a 1x from motherhood. And tops from old navy I have been buying along with motherhood tops just because the old navy ones if bought like tshirt type material are awesome and cheap! And some look like you can wear them after pregnancy without anyone noticing they are maternity!!
