Need some opinions on BCP

I have just today started taking Mycrogynon 30 mid cycle , i am unsure if i am able to do this the problem is that i am now on cd58 and have no signs of my period coming and im due to go on holiday next week and im not really keen on taking the risk of having a period when im away , i only plan to take the pills up until i come back from holiday then i will come off them again.If i started to bleed tommorow or something and the tablets hadnt had a chance to kick in then i would of course not take them.

I know this is proberly a really silly thing to do but i am so stressed about it all and i just wanna have a good holiday.

Any opinions would be great.

I don't think it is silly. My gyn suggested I do the same thing. I started taking BCP for the first time in 10 years so that my vacation won't be miserable. My cycles are regular and PAINFUL, and the worst 3 - 4 days are going to fall exactly on my vacation. I'm not keen on taking BCP since breast cancer runs in my family, so I'll stop taking them when my vacation is over.

Thats great to know your gyn recommeded that , i didnt want to go and see my dr cos i was worried she might tell me to wait but i dont really wanna take the risk of it arriving the day before i go away , so its good to know someone of a high stature has suggested that , it has reassured me so much , now i am just gonna take it easy and not worry about it , if i was to bleed tommorow after taking it for one day i just wouldnt bother anymore cos i would say that it wouldnt have had time to kick in by then would you say thats about right.

If you start bleeding tomorrow, it would mean that you ovulated about 2 weeks ago. You could keep taking the BCPs in hopes it would shorten your period, but if you are fairly certain that the bleeding will be over by the time you start your holiday, there's no reason you shouldn't stop taking the pills immediately. There is always a chance that you ovulated a week ago, and you may still have a period next week on your holiday even if you are taking pills. Once you ovulate, there's nothing you can do to stop the bleeding. Good luck!

I know i dont ovualte so i dont think thats really a probelm , i havent ovualted since october 2005 and im currently in the process of fertility tests which are coming up in a few months time and then i hope to be able to get some clomid to help me ovualte and get pregant. The BCP is purely just to stop my period coming until i get home.
