Hi everyone, I am in need of some advice when it comes to the medication I am on. I got on metformin ER 1500 mg in January. I weighed 210 lbs and I lost 20 lbs with no real diet or exercise. Then I got on Yaz. I proceeded to gain back 15 lbs.
I believe the yaz has caused my appetite to increase. I have, however, seen positive results with the yaz when it comes to hair growth. It has probably cut down my regrowth time by half, which is a major plus for me.
I have been exercising 4 times per week, an hour per time with an aerobic and strength training combo. I lost 10 of the lbs that i gained back, but it came off very slowly and I felt that if I was off the yaz I would be losing weight more quickly, so I quit it tonight.
I have a dr. appt this friday where I'll be discussing getting an IUD with him. I'd like Paragard so that I don't have to deal with the weight gain side effects of Mirena. I am also thinking about getting on either spiro or flutimide to replace the antiandrogic effects of the yaz. It's really nice to have less facial hairs that I have to pluck.
My questions are:
1. Do you think that it could be the yaz that made me gain the weight, or do you think that my body just adjusted to the metformin after a while? Should I ask for my met dosage to be increased? 1500 mg brought me back to a normal cycle after not having a period for over a year.
2. Will being on a combo of metformin and spiro or flutamide aid in weight loss when paired with exercise? I have read articles that said that this combination decreased belly fat, but overall fat is really my problem. I have well proportioned curves, just too much extra weight.
3. Also, I have read that spiro and flutamide may cause breasts to grow and this would be a huge problem for me because I already have a 36H cup and need a reduction badly. How common is this problem?
Any answers are greatly appreciated! Thanks!
