Yeah, so I know that there are lots of "girl-geeks" here (like me!) but I know this forum tends to have more posts of the geek nature residing, so here's my question.
Our company has finally landed a good-sized client, who wants to start an internet radio show, audio only. He wants to start with on-demand files first, and we need to find someone who supports the Perl scripting that PayPal uses for subscriptions. We're possibly looking at around 500 listeners to start - but hopefully not concurrent - so we'll need a good amount of bandwidth. We haven't nailed down what media type we'll use - mp3 if we can, wma, possibly RealAudio if needed - and we need to consider that many listeners may be still using modems, so we'll probably be encoding at 24k and 56k bitrates.
What we need is to find a high-quality hosting company that can accomodate us - the one we're working on seems to think that our client needs a static IP address to push to their server, and we don't have that capability at this point. I'm considering piggybacking this show on my own domain, just to buy us some more time, but we have VERY limited bandwidth, so it won't last long. We want to get this started as soon as possible (read: yesterday!) and I'm quite frankly tired of dealing with a sales rep who has no technical knowledge whatsoever - that's been our biggest bottleneck. Any information would be terribly helpful, you can PM me, or
feel free to email me, please and thank you.
