Post Need your opinions!

Hello!
I was diagnosed back in 1998 and was prescribed birth control pills which I am still taking. Can anyone recommend a good pill for PCOS? I take Apri. I used to take orth-trycylcen but my doctor said Apri is cheaper (yes I'm on a HMO) and they are pretty much the same.
About 1 yr ago I was also prescribed metformin which I still take but it upsets my stomach and causes diarrhea but I put up with it. does anyone have this sympton w/metformin? dr said it would go away after taking the medication for a while, but it hasn't.

Also, any good face wash, toner out there? I have been using DDF foaming face wash (sephora.com) which seems to have cleared up my acne pretty well.
can anyone recommend a good liquid foundation? one that covers up acne good w/o too much oil and build up. also, a good pressed powder too. I have been trying to find the perfect one for years and years.

dr recommend vaniqua (topical cream) to slow down the facial hair growth. there is no generic and its about $50 a tube, has anyone had any luck with this?? just had my chin waxed yesterday. thinking about laser hair removal because i think all the tweezing causes acne breakouts too!!!

sorry to ramble on, i'm at work and got a moment to sneak in a non-work related email..

thanks
Cindy
P.S. I live in the Boston area, I'm 26, no kids, 5'1", 180 lbs (gained about 30lbs in the last year!!!) trying to lose the weight but it is so hard! just go the south beach diet book for xmas, going to start that Jan 1st.)
Meds: Apri- BCP, Metformin, Wellbutrin for depression and fatigue.

Default A Few Answers

PILL:
Apri is supposed to be great for PCOS, but you can also try Yasmin. There are a lot of cysters here who take it. I don't take any BCPs because they make my symptoms worse.

FACE WASH:
I use St. Ives medicated apricot scrub once a day. Then I use Neutrogena medicated acne wash in the morning. I use an off-brand oil-free moisturizer to keep the cleansers from drying me out. Then I use a cheap cover girl concealer and a non-comedogenic/all-natural pressed powder.

VANIQA:
is wonderful! I quit using it when I found out I was pregnant (no studies), but I'm definitely thinking of using it again. Met has really helped with my facial hair, but I'm still going to get lasered after we have one baby successfully.

DEPRESSION:
Are you taking essential fatty acids and B-vitamins? Both of these are great for depression and many other PCOS symptoms. I take a distilled fish oil supplement and B-50 complex. My siggie will show you all the stuff I take - it's all great for PCOS symptoms.

SOUTH BEACH:
I've heard good things about it. I personally do Sugar Busters. Healthy-carbing (not low-carbing) is definitely easier to fit into your life than kicking all carbs out of your diet.

Hope I helped!
