Default Never had to deal with this.....

Ok, I have a question or 2.
I've had a rough year. And have a feeling I might be depressed, and I've been having alot of anxiety lately.
I've never had to deal with talking to the doctor about this topic.

I have a OBGYN appt. next week; my first time seeing this doctor. Can girl doctors help with depression and anxiety, and help treat it?
Or do I have to talk to another type of doctor?

I really don't want to find a different doctor if I don't have to.

Also, I don't know how to go about bringing it up.
Should I just come out and say I have anxiety and depression? What should I ask?
I know I probally sound stupid, but I've never had to talk to the doctor about this......
Thanks,

It really shouldn't matter if your Dr is male or female. My ob/gyn told me if I felt I needed anti-depressants he would pescribe them, so I don't really think you will need to find another Dr. If she won't prescribe them ask her for a referal to another Dr., maybe a therapist. I know I had a hard time bringing it up with my Dr. but I was just honest with him and told him how I had been feeling. I would just tell her that that you have been feeling odd and describe how you feel to her. That should get the ball rolling. Good luck and let us know how it goes.
