i get my period around every 40-45 days...........shed some light on me!

First off, I am sending some baby dust your way!!! As for getting pg (pregnant) naturally, it can absolutely be done but, it depends on your situation....
Whether thin or overweight, if you have inuslin resistance, a 5% reduction of body weight has been proven to increase your chances of conceiving with PCOS.
You may also consider some supplements that have worked well for women who have made the decision to treat PCOS naturally. I am not an expert on this but, there are things like cinnamon which quite a few have had success with for ovulation. But, I will need to defer to our natural cysters for more and better advice.
I was pg twice and conceived in two very different ways each time. Again, I know these are nto your first choice but, they are options should you decide to go this route, although different things work for different people.
My first time was using provera to hep me menstruate and then clomid to help me ovulate (so basically oral infertility treatments) on top of this I used progesterone because my levels were low, which can often be a problem with women with PCOS. In any case after about six months I became pg and had to be on progesterone my first trimester.
My second go round, was a complete surprise! I decided after my daughter was born to get healthy and started on the metformin and made healthy lifestyle changes. I lost about 40 pounds in three months and conceived again. While metformin was not natural, it felt very natural becaus emy hormones were in check and I did not need any additional assistance or testing for infertility.
Whatever you decide, keep hope and desire close to your heart and I wish you all the luck in the world!
All the Best,
Ashley

It's been a long time since we were ttc, but if you are older than late 20's and have known PCOS, I would not wait a year to start fertility treatments. I'd get started sooner rather than later.

If you want to go the natural route then try taking your temp every morning before you get out of bed. When you see your temps rise and fall throughout your monthly cycle you can better gage when you ovulated. Eat a very healthy diet, try to lose excess weight which will improve your chances and get plenty of exercise.Avoid stress and drink lots of fresh water. You could try herbals such as vitex, cinnamon even zinc and licorice. Check out the alternative remedies on SC. Keeping positive also helps and make sure you and hubby are doing plenty of BDing!
