Default New!

About two weeks ago at the age of 26 I was diagnosed with PCOS....I have an amazing Nurse Practioner that figured out what was wrong with me. And it all started with a simple question about why after 5 years my husband and I haven't had any "luck" getting pregnant. After a rundown of my medical history...she knew right away and got the proper blood work to be sure.

So now I'm on Met...and pretty lucky cuz I don't get sick to my stomache or have to spend ALL Day in the bathroom.

I feel very lucky to have found my Nurse. She's wonderful and very caring. Also she's so excited to start fixing the things we can and try to get me pregnant!

I was sad at first...the thought that I might never become pregnant. But thinking about how excited she was really helped. And I know I'm not just some freak. There's a reason I miss AF, and I have funky hair in weird places...and all the other wonderful side issues that come with PCOS.

Hello and welcome to SC!

It's wierd how finding out that you have PCOS makes you feel both sadness and relief isn't it? I think that everyone here can relate to that. For myself, I think I felt more relief than anything b/c I was only dx last month - I'm 36 with no children (of my own) and I'd truly thought that I was just one of the women who wasn't meant to have any children and although I didn't like it - I'd made piece with it. BUT - with a "thumbs up" from my ob/gyn - we'll be going on clomid the first week of March (hopefully) because I AM NOT just one of the women who wasn't meant to have any children!

I'm so glad that your nurse knew about PCOS and that you are now getting treatment. You didn't mention being tested for IR (Insulin Resistance) - if you haven't - maybe you should check with her about that, it's common to have both.

Continued success on Met! How many mg are you on?

I wish you the absolute best and I look forward to reading your pg success story!!

See ya around the boards!
