Hello everyone....My name is Amy and I am 34. I just found out today that It looks as though I have PCOS. My DR is going to do the blood work next week, but after talking with me, she is positive that it is PCOS. She gave me all kinds of info and also this web site, so I could find out more about pcos and have support. It feels so good to have found a DR. Me and DH have been ttc for two yrs. Anyway...she want me to go on a low carb diet and I would like to know if anyone has good results on the SB diet or if Atkins is better. Thanks and I look forward to getting to know you all.
Hi Amy! Glad you found us. You're definitely in the right place for loads of information and wonderfully supportive friends!!! I would go nuts if not for my cysters here! I am glad that you found a good DR and I wish you lots and lots of luck in your TTC journey. As for the diets, many cysters have had success with the IR (insulin resistance) diet. Check out the stickies in the Diet/Exercise forum for lots and lots of good info on that. Good luck to you, see you round the boards!

Welcome. I think a lot of cysters benefit from a low carb diet. Sounds like your doc is on the ball! Take a look around at the different forums--the whole board has TONS of great info!!!!
Wow! You have a great doctor! I'm so glad you found this site. It has been very helpful on my journey this past year. I'm on the South Beach diet and find that I like it better than Atkins. South Beach is all about the right carbs, not necessarily low carbs. I still try to lower my carb intake. I don't eat white bread or pasta or any refined flour. I eat a lot of whole grains. I found that after a week on South Beach, my levels started to go down a bit. We found that out by accident because I had to have a blood test for insurance reasons. Although my levels were still high, they went down 10 points after starting the South Beach diet. And that was before I went on medication! It doesn't work so quickly for everyone, but I'm seeing great success from it! GL!
