I suppose Im just spoiled and used to others welcoming a newbie on other boards.
I wish I WASNT a SAHW. I couldnt be anymore bored if I tried. I do have hobbies, but even those dont save me from the confinement of being stuck at home practically 24/7

I'm in the same boat as you. I'm 23 and NOT TTC, and my doctor only wants me on metformin when I'm ready to start a family. Why is that? Did your doctor give you an answer?

di1981, that is such a long time. Maybe the docs are filled up till then? :/ I know that most doctors (or at least the ones that I have come across) are more willing to just throw you onto birth control pills and being done with it. Well like a lot of others I have talked to, BCPs just cover it up and give you 'false' periods. Id like to get off mine cause its making me feel sick.

and Abigirl, he never really said why, other than he just doesnt do it for women who are not TTC. I have put in a request for a new doctor though, because I dont want to sit there and argue with this man about what he normally does and what I WANT. So I requested a female doc. I have found females, in the past, to be more sympathetic with the situations. I also may have just gotten lucky because ive heard a lot of women say they prefer male docs lol.

Okay hi all new ones (and us not so new ones). I've never heard of waiting to go on Met until TTC.... I've heard of choosing Met over BCP to avoid BCPs side effects - can you just complain about that to get a better chance at having doc switch you over to Met?

I'm simply never allowed on BCPs ever again due to the increased blood clot risk and my gene mutations lead to the same (found out after I was on BCPs for 5 years).

Can you guys find a different doctor so you don't have to go months untreated??? I do agree that anyone should be able to say - go on these BCPs until then...

FYI I have seen 2 males and 3 females. Males win in my book! They have just been able to explain so much more and listen to me... isn't that odd though.

The male doctors I've encountered have been familiar with met for pcos, but I've dealt with a few female docs who have never heard of the treatment, saying I shouldn't be on it since I'm not diabetic. I guess it just depends from doc to doc though..
