I was dx with PCOS in April 03 and my Dr put me on Aldactone. I don't see many ppl on it and I was wondering what this does for me. Dr says it will lower testosterone level. Is anybody else on it ?

Aldactone (Spironolactone) is a diuretic, and also has the added benefit of being an anti-androgen medication. Simply stated that means it lowers the levels of androgens in ur body (testosterone)

By taking Spiro u should see easing of the hirsutism (facial hair) and acne associated with high androgen levels.

Many woman are on Spiro, there a a few different names for it....Aldactone is just one.

Welcome to SoulCysters, MissThang, I love the name!
If you learn a lot on this site, maybe you could teach the doctor a thing or two. Have you been tested for insulin resistance?
Best wishes,
Sheri

Thanks for the welcome! I dont know what I have been tested for. The nurse said that everything looked good except for my testosterone. Im gonna call next week to find out what exactly he tested for and what my #s are. He just told not to eat sugar or carbs anymore. I go back in 3 months to retest.
