I've been officiallydiagnosed for 4 years ( though I knew I had it years before). I have had no medical help for my condition. The doctors keep telling me there's nothing they can do.
It's really frustrating, especially the catch 22 weight thing. I've learned through this site that metformin is helpful. I'm going to make an appointment with my doctor and ask to go on it.
Many people do use the met. Some of us make do without. I believe some have trouble convincing their doc to give it to them if they're not officially diabetic. Have you checked out the gluc/met list?
See ya' round

I found the name of a doctor recommended on here Dr Deane Drew, and have made an appointment for Monday. Am really excited to be seeing someone who knows about PCOS. Here's hoping he can help.
Hi Bren
Welcome to SC . I took metformin when I conceived my son (with clomd) - it helped my maintain a pregnancy and also lose about 14kg before I conceived (I was doing Weight Watchers too). I have just started taking it again in preparation for ttc #2 next year. Good Luck. Hope to see you around some more.
I am feeling so empowered!! I went to see a doctor that was recommended on this site. DR Deane Drew in Wellington. He is great. He put me on metformin straight away. He is the first doctor I've been to who has said there is something we can do about PCOS.
Welcome sorry its a bit belated! Great news about the met! I started it last week too. How are you feeling on it? Is your dose increasing week by week?
thanks
Em
