Smile new to this...advice needed

Hi there,

I was diagnosed with pcos last year and up until recently it didn't really effect me too much as I wasn't trying for a baby and was on the pill so still having regular periods. Today is the last day I will take a pill as my husband and I have decided to start trying for a baby. My doctor wasn't particularly helpful when I was diagnosed and just kind of said that when the time comes for trying I shouldn't worry about it for at least a year and only then should I bother to go back to him if I have been unsuccessful - he didn't really give me much advice at all to be honest. Do you think I should just try for a while and see what happens or seek medical help straight away to save time? My friend has pcos and was prescribed clomid and also had an operation but still couldn't get pregant and i'm worried about wasting time...!

Thanks to anyone who replies to this message ~ Jen

Welcome to SC!
I suggest seeing another dr that may be able to give you more information. It is better to have a dr that works with you and is willing to answer all your questions.
Many times drs are just about how many patients they can see. Every woman is different - as you read the different threads you will see this clearly.
I am lucky has I have an average case of PCOS ... with watching my diet I was able to conceive naturally.
Good luck!

Hi hun,

Welcome to SC. I think you should see a different doctor. It can take time to get pregnant, it took me almost 3 years to gor my daughter and we have been trying for 4 years tying to concive #2. I would see a different doc and see what they reccommend. It could not hurt and if you want a baby you should take all the steps you can. I wish I would have asked for help (MEDS) along time ago. This is just my opinion and I wish you all the very best. Have a great day!!

What led you to the PCOS diagnosis to begin with? As all of us ladies know, one year is like an eternity when we are waiting to get pregnant. ONE month is too long! If your not interested in going to another dr. right away just wait and see if your cycle comes on its own for the first month or two after stopping bcp. If it doesnt then it would make since to see a dr. so he/she could help you get regulated. Regular is a good thing when hoping for ovulation and pregnancy.
