New -Any advice on what Questions should I ask Doc?
Hello Girls, I have got an appointment with the Gyn soon. I'm brand new to this.
Can you offer me advice on what questions I should ask so I can make the most of my appoinment. I've read the sticky about 'questions you should ask your doctor' but interested in anything else anyone of you might have to offer. I'm doing as much research as I can in the mean time.
Also what can I expect from my first visit? I live in the UK so I guess things might work a bit different in that aspect.
Not sure what questions you should ask but I do know that you should make sure that you understand all of the answers that you are given. Cause that is they only way that you can be of help with treatment.

I think what questions you ask depends on what situation you are in - whether you are trying to conceive or not, or hope to sometime in the future, will significantly affect any appointment you have.
I think it is important to ask about the best diet and exercise to complement any medications they may give you. I am amazed that at the original diagnosis of my PCOS the GP didn't mention anything about diet or exercise. At the end of the appointment, I asked, and she said as a kind of side, that yes, this 'COULD' help, but I also needed to see a specialist. But from my experience and from what I've read from others, diet and exercise DOES help, and you can start it straight away, before seeing a specialist, or waiting for another test or appointment. (In fact, diet and exercise was the focus of my first specialist visit, since they didn't prescribe me Metformin straight away).
Also, I think it is important to know if you are IR or not, so please, if you haven't had a test for it, please ask for one.
What to expect from first visit? - My first specialist appointment was full of the doc writing out forms for more blood tests - testing hormones, glucose tolerance test, prolactin, sperm antibodies, cholesterol and triglycerides. Also a form for DH to get a semen analysis. And like I wrote above, a lot of talk about diet and exercise, with the specialist recommending a book for me to read - 'the New Glucose Revolution'.
Hope this helps,
Michelle
