Hello. I'm Brigitte and I was diagnosed in 1999 with PCOS while TTC. I ended up having my children through IVF (twins) and FET (singleton). I am still nursing the singleton. I live in Merritt, BC.
While I was diagnosed with PCOS I was never really treated due to TTC, then pregnancies, and nursing. Now that my singleton is my last child I am eager to start treatment for my PCOS. I started Curves yesterday. I have spoken with my GP about seeking treatment. He has referred me to an Internist in Kamloops. I suppose the Internist will refer me to someone else.
I do have some concern as to why I am being referred to an Internist. I was under the impression that OB/GYNs and REs are the standard specialists.
I normally go under the handle of "truffles" but someone snagged the name here.
also, good for you for taking on 'treatment' now. I started Curves a month ago and still like it (amazing for me.)
I'm not sure why your gp would refer you to an internist. You're right that most often, PCOS women are referred to endos, REs or ob/gyns... perhaps you could call him to see what his reasoning is?
You're living in a beautiful part of the world. I'm in Ontario now but grew up on Vancouver Island and miss it! I have family in the Okanogan and Kamloops and oh, how I wish I could visit more often!

Hi there! I am in Vancouver. I have had PCOS all my life ( so I think). I am 26 yrs. old, married, no kids. I am 174 pounds (thanks to met). I have been on met for 1.5 yrs. I have lost 25 pounds but no AF as a result. I tried clomid for 2 months and had to stop cause it made me crazy. Plans for family on hold. Maybe in a year or two (when finances are better). I am convinced I cant have kids. Planning on adoption someday. If I actually got pregnant on fertility, I'd be shocked. I am willing to try clomid again, then shots, probably not IVF. How much does it cost per cycle inc. meds in BC?

welcome from penticton, youre just up the road... the only reason i think you would be sent to an internist is that you are not trying to get preg??? i know that there are just endocrinologists in vancouver.. i was seeing an obgyn when ttc,, i had McKayla with clomid but now im done ttc i went back to my gp.. good luck vicky
