I told my best friend tonight that I was diagnosed with PCOS in September, and immediately she found me this site. After lurking for an hour or so, I decided to join because I've desperately been trying to find other people who can relate to me when it comes to PCOS.
I stopped getting my period for about 8 months & gained 10 pounds in a matter of 3 weeks without changing my diet. I've always had excess facial, arm, stomach & back hair. I was concerned about my periods and weight gain, so my doctor put all the symptoms together & diagnosed me.
I'm on a B.C.P. to regulate my periods, and it's worked fine and really straightened out my periods. I go for laser hair removal on my face. The progress is slow, but it's there. My biggest concern right now is my weight. I'm 5'7 and weigh about 165, and my biggest areas of concern are my stomach.
Originally posted by LookingForHope16 I hope that the laser hair removal works. I wish that it would for me. But my mother won't let me get it.
I'm actually going for a treatment called EpiLight. It's a light beam instead of a laser. It's more expensive, but has longer results over a wider range of skin.
Originally posted by LookingForHope16 Is there anyway that you can get me some more info on this. Prices and such. Where did you say that you were from?
I'm from New York.
It can be pretty pricey. I get my chin, neck, lip and sides of my face done for $250 a session (one session a month), which I guess isn't so bad. But then I asked to get my lower stomach done & that was $100.
Hello! I'm also just joined right now. I'm 17 and was diagnosed with PCOS two years ago. I never really did anything about it, or wiorried about it. Well that is untill alot of unplesent things have been happening. I feel like my life has turned upside down because of PCOS.
That's why I joined SC. I'm glad to be around people who have the same thing as me, and how they get by. I'm glad to be here!
