Wink New to the board!

Hi there! I'm new to the board and wanted to introduce myself. I'm Jaclyn and I'm 25 years old. i was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 16, since then I've shown possible signs of endometriosis as well, but I don't want to have exploratory surgery to find out! I've only been treated with 1500 mg of Metformin. I tried the Lupron injections also, but showed no results.

I'm the typical PCOS'er, weight gain around the mid section, hair growth, and basically no periods in the last two years.

I get these unbelievable pain attacks, which I'm told is due to the cysts bursting. I take the depo shot and that seems to be the only thing to assist with the pain, if I don't take it I'm on the floor screaming!

I wanted to ask...I haven't taken my metformin in a very long time due to not having any insurance. I recently started again and from the first day I have felt such extreme fatigue and just generally feel out of sorts. Is this normal? I remember the metformin giving me stomach issues and a strange feeling but not fatigue.

I also recently just celebrated my first wedding anniversary! Yay!
I pretty much know that conceiving is going to be difficult and/or not possible, so whats the first step to take testing wise? I just want to know what I'm in for. I have a very supportive husband and I'm lucky for that. My gyn is an excellent doctor but considering I don't have insurance right now I don't want to bog him down with questions about it, I mean he already still prescribes me my meds and talks with me when I need it.

I'm so glad that I found this site! So many people have no clue what PCOS is and even after I explain it, they don't really get the big picture of what we go through on a day to day basis. Sorry for such a long post!

Once I was diagnosed with it just over 2 years ago my doc started trying methods to help with the fertility. I had been trying for 5 years to conceive again, my son was conceived with no problems and of course it was before any signs of PCOS. So after being put on metformin and progesterone and then 2 months of chlomid I still was having no success. My husband and I had finally just said that we were blessed with the two we had, I have a stepdaughter from his first marriage, and that we were probably done. I had been going to the gym religiously 5-6 days a week and was loosing some of the weight and then after 2 or 3 months and not stressing about getting pregnant found out I was pregnant. So it's not impossible. I do have to say though the pregnancy itself was tough, I was on bedrest pretty much the whole time mostly due to complications from PCOS. But she is now 10 months old and a joy beyond joy, my angel and my miracle baby. Good luck and don't give up.

Congratulations! Thank you for responding! I'm just very nervous, I would love to have a baby, if not than we can explore other areas such as adoption. Its just so frustrating to be in the dark. I'm afraid if I agree to the exploratory surgery my Dr. will go in and see nothing good and tell me to have a hysterectomy! I know thats thinking way off the deep end, but I'm sure everyone can relate to how I'm feeling!

Just remember that anything is possible, I try and remind myself of that daily. Someone told me to quit stressing which is impossible for me to do, but once I just let it go and started moving forward with life, exercising and such I ended up pregnant... But at the same time I always had in the back of my mind that if it ended bad I had to be prepared for that too. I am super optimistic most of the time, right now I am having a super hard time dealing with my PCOS and may seem a little sinical, but like I said before anything is possible and I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason!
