I usually posted on the TTC boards! But after 3 years I am here! Our homestudy is almost done. We are going through the Independent Adoption Center. I must admit this is a little nerve wrecking.
Any tips????
We have been reading up on parenting issues and so forth since we will be first time parents.
Also how do I REGULATE MY MENSTRUAL CYCLE!!!! I am 2 months past due as it is and I am going insane! My emotions are running high and my body is just driving me insane!!!!!!
Thanks!

I can't really offer any advice beyond getting certified and INS approved for adoption. We are on "hold" temporarily while I'm pregnant. Here are a few tips I could think of:
If you are TTC and trying to adopt, you may want to find out what your agency views are on your plans to adopt. Our agency didn't think the country we had selected (Panama) would allow us to adopt if I was pregnant - they said it wasn't worth the risk and could hamper other American's future adoptions. This wasn't their view when I went to their seminar and asked if pregnant women could adopt. Perhaps speaking frankly with their Director would be better than just asking the question to a Marketing person.
Also there are health risks to consider if you plan to travel while pregnant. It might be worth getting all your shots now before your pregnant or get your self tested for immunities - Hepatitis, Tetnas, etc. Check the CDC's website for the country/region you plan to adopt from (if you are adopting internationally) or check with your Doctor.
Consider age - if you are planning to adopt a toddler or older child there's a bit more prep involved on your part (educating yourself on issues and parenting). Reading and preparing is about all you can do during the waiting time.
Sorry - can't be of any help on missing cycles.
Best Wishes,

Actually I am not planning on getting pregnant right now. I am just trying to figure out how to regulate my cycle. We are adopting domestically by the way. Thanks for your advice though!

Good luck on your adoption process. We adopted domestically last year. Our daughter is one year old already! If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask. My biggest tip to you is to just be yourself. Be yourself to your social workers and be yourself when you meet your potential birthmother. Cherish every moment but also stay smart. It does get very intimidating and stressfull but it is all worth it in the end. I'd be happy to discuss our adoption and answer any questions you have. Feel free to private messge me.
I don't know what to tell you about your periods. Mine have been irregular my whole life. I mean I could go up to 9 months without one. Then, at the end of our fertility efforts, I had to take a pill (I forgot what it was called) to actually start my period. Anyways, when we decided to adopt, my endocrinologist put me on the pill. I stayed on it for about 6 months and then stopped taking it. My periods have been regular (every month) for about 8 months now. I'm not sure if its because of the pill that I was on or if it is because of my other medications. Try talking to an endo.

I can't offer any specific advice on domestic adoption, but for us the waiting is made easier by doing all we can to prepare for our little guy. Not just reading up on stuff, but little things. For example, DH has started a Hot Wheels collection for our son. He buys 1 car per month. He plans to do so until our son is old enough to play with them. Then when we give them to him, we'll also tell him the story of how we got them
As for your periods.. my doctor put me on "provera cycling", which means 14 days on provera and 14 days off, similar to the way some ladies use natural progesterone cream. I had actually asked him about using NPC, but he said he didn't think a cream would work for me and prescribed the provera instead. When TTC I had used provera and had awful mood swings from it. Since doing the cycling though I've not had any problems. The first period was very painful (I was bed ridden!) BUT I hadn't had one in over a year and I had just had an endometrial biopsy, so those things probably contributed to the pain more than the provera did. I don't have the mood swings I used to get. I'm not sure if it's do to the cycling as opposed to "take for 7 days, wake a bunch of other drugs, and take again whenever you give up on this cycle" or if maybe it was actually the clomid and injectibles causing my problems.
Hope that helps

My advice is as good as it gets D.O.G (Depend on God) and it will all work out just fine.
I know that it's all nerve racking, but it will be totally worth it in the end, the Lord will guide you thru it. Just try to relax and pray pray pray and give praise for what the Lord is doing.
Welcome to the board and my best to you on your journey....
As for your cycle, I'm not sure what to tell you. Mine is always messed up it seems. <sigh>
