Unhappy New to Board - Please Help w/ Hair Loss?

I've always had baby fine/ thin hair (its also dark brown, so its quite horrible.) I recently had a baby in November and now its falling out in clumps! I'm starting to see my scalp clearly by my temples. It just looks terrible. It makes me want to cry. I don't take any meds for my PCOS currently- just control with diet. Can any cysters guide me to what I can do about my thinning hair? I'm currently breastfeeding, but will be weaning in about a month and I want to start planning on some kind of treatment.

THANKS for any responses!!!

Congrats on your new little boy and welcome to Soulcysters!

Here are my suggestions:

Get a complete hormononal profile by a good endocrinologist and compare the results yourself to the chart in Diagnosing PCOS section here: http://www.inciid.org/faq/pcos.html (in fact, just spend the time to read that entire faq!)

Consider meds like Glucophage (generic name Metformin) for insulin control and Aldactone (generic spironolactone) for androgen control. I have read many reports of the brand name being much more effective in both cases than the generic (which allows up to a 20% quality variance).

Read about Alternative Remedies in the forum for insulin and androgen control - my favorite "alternatives" are the IR Diet and the herb saw palmetto.

Take a multivitamin, flax seed oil, evening primrose oil and a b-complex.
