I have been reading the board for a few weks now and it has provided a lot of info and comfort into this condition we all share...! I was diagnosed a few months ago after two years of to-ing and fro-ing to the doctors who said my weight gain was me eating too much (which I KNOW i didn't!!!). I was given Metformin and BCP's. I started Met a month ago and have worked my way up to 1500mg. Have been lucky as have had little side effecs - only occasional tummy aches and a bit of a "not quite right" feeling sometimes. I hate taking medication and this is the hardest thing for me - I dont see an end to it and I wish I didnt have to take anything although I realise why its important...!
Anyway, just wanted to say hello and I hope to be able to help as you all have helped me so far.... :o)

Welcome aboard!!! I am 100% you will LOVE being here, not for the PCOS, but for the love, support and tons of info you'll find.
I'd start with the research articles that Kat posts--there are tons! You'll probably look through some of the diet and exercise stuff, too, as that's almost an essential part of managing PCOS.
There are just gobs & gobs of stuff to enjoy (just be careful when you notice you have to start limiting yourself - it's very involving & fun in here!)

I know how scary it can be - I've only been diagnosed a few months myself. But keep asking questions (and going to new doctors if you aren't happy with the one you've got and can go to new ones) and arm yourself with information. I too was told I was just lazy and ate too much when I knew this wasn't true! Being diagnosed was a figurative weight off my mind and has been a literal weight off my body!
